Default buysellads CTR

do anyone mind telling me their optimal CTR for bsa?
I am with a software company, and i've tried and always gotten about 0.11% max. but on places like psdtuts, i got relatively low CTR with 0.4%.

Also, is it worth it to advertise on places like mashable or techcrunch (isocket)?

It is hard to answer your question, BSA has many sites and placements and each of them is different, some may have a very high CTR, while others may generate just few clicks.

Your best bet is probably spend little money on several placements to test them and then go with the ones that give you good numbers and eliminate the others.

Agreed. It all depends on the placement. CTR isn't the end all, however. You need to look at your conversion rate as well. High CTR but 0 conversion rate isn't going to help you.

Paul D. is exactly right. Excellent CTR with zero conversions means nothing, except that people are just "happy clicking" your ads.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but in my experience it depends a ton on the placement. the 125x125s are useless, but on anything else, if you get premium placement above the fold, you should be able to get 0.5% to 2.5% CTR, while for lower placements or for some sites where the user quality isn't as high, 0.2% to 0.5% is the norm. If you can't get 0.2% CTR minimum you really need to look at your ads though, as that should be the bare minimum

It can be quite good some times. The biggest problem I have are overly sensitive publishers who don't allow any ad that might actually make it's advertiser money

Wow these are far higher than my results on buysellads. I experimented with the web hosting niche and got .01% .02% .03% .03%. No conversions. I used the creatives provided by various hosting companies so I can't say it was the ads that needed to be reexamined. I put ads on graphic design and web design sites. I came to the conclusion banner ads suck.

Stock ads actually have a bigger chance to suck in terms of CTR, since the advertiser made those all compliant etc. and doesn't really care about the highest ctr for those.

Made the banners to be compliant with what? And how does compliance equate to a bad ad?

They are similar to the ads I see web hosting companies using on the Google Display network.

I tried animated, colorful, with discounted price and big and bold, and non animated versions. The creatives were better than I could have done.

compliant with the advertisers terms. these ads aren't necisary compliant, but usually won't get you the highest ctr.
