This is a question for the pros out there.

I'm going to give you an example of what i'm attempting to do, and i'd like to know if it's whitehat and if you think it has a chance of converting well, and if any others out there may be doing the same.

Example;

-Go on Jim Carrey's Facebook Page

-Post a link on his wall directing his millions of fans to my website to "vote" for Jim Carrey and receive a FREE Ipad2!! (CPA Offer)

-They come to my website and see a picture of Jim Carrey, a brief description of him, and a link that says VOTE FOR JIM CARREY.

-After clicking the link, they are sent to my CPA Offer E-mail submit and I make money.

Anyone do this? Is it whitehat? Is it legal?

Seems like an alright idea - apart from it may be seen as SPAM by facebook also most fan pages dont allow you to post links directly on them unless its a comment!

But i wouldnt say it was 100% WH but i cant see TO much wrong with it unless you SPAM it alot!

I don't think the CPA networks will see this method with good eyes, because it seems to be spamming for me. But I may be wrong...

As your linking to your website from the fan page and not directly linking to the CPA offer, I don't think the CPA networks would have any problem with you doing this.

Let us know your results.

You should really do it for about 10 celebrity fan pages, then you have more chance of success. Power of numbers.

What id be wondering what's legal. Do you have the rights to use an image of Jim Carrey on your website?

Its a unique idea. It's been done before i've seen it a couple times on other peoples facebook pages. but by doing this your risking your facebook account for termination due to spam.

Your idea is very interesting. I think it will work very well. But, it is not white hat technique. Facebook may find you as a spammer.

It depends how much you scale it.

I've heard some people have spammed facebook pages with CPA offers and it took loads of posts even to just get one conversion, so im not sure how effect posting on walls like this is.

I havnt really had the time to try this as im in the hospital with my wife whos in labor.

However, when I do get home im going to see what kind of magic I can do with this and ill let you all know

As of now the only downside I can think of with this is the fact that the fans of the celeberitys dont usually look at posts made by other fans, only posts made from the celeberitys themselves

this seems to be common as lots of people are using this technique and it doesn't seem to be working good.

What I would suggest is to create a fanpage on your own and post the cpa link on your page would be better.

Make sure you set up a few fan pages just for Internet Marketing, to try these things out on.

This will also let you set up an opposite demorgraphic site so you can see what ads are targetting 18 year old girls in Alabama. This will give you an idea of what other CPA offers marketers are running. The profile of an internet marketer is sometimes harder to market to then an 18-24 year old woman.

If it gets banned there is no love lost, and you still have your main account with all your high school buddies.

I t would be a better idea to try to create the fan page and build it up. You'll be a lot better of since you have spam issuse should the page owner decide to notify facebook about you. If you pick the right celebrity your page should build up pretty fast if promote it enough.

an idea for you:
1. Make a fan page named Jim Carrey or Jim Carrey Movies (from categories select product and website)
2. Select same profile pic to your fan page as on Official Jim Carrey fan page so if you post, these fans think its Jim Carrey posting himself orsm
3. Start collecting fans to your Jim Carrey fan page or post CPA offer with your fan page to official JC page.

I'm testing this method right now and will probably use paid ads on facebook also. Definitely use secondary accounts on facebook not your personal profile. Celebrity fanpages are big and you can do well with one field zip and email submits. And as stated above nothing beats owning the actual fanpage.

Decent idea, but its a little shady impersonating a celeberity to get traffic to your offers, and it wouldnt make sense using the celeberitys profile pic with a different name

Yep Celebrity fanpages are big! I have built them several with FB ads.
If you are planning to build them with ads then don`t ever pay over 0,05 cents per click. Just test alot of images. And make a iframe tab for fan page and put AWebber opt in list there so you can capture emails for expanding your monetizing methods and save the wall marketing later

Just a thought, if someone had a huge list of emails from registered facebook users, can you mass invite these users to join your fanpage using facebook, or do you have to do it one by one

Just an update, im doing alot of promoting on celeberity fanpages using the method I mentioned in my first post, bottomline, it does not work, the fans do not read other fans messages. I have posted my link about 10 times on different fanpages and my website has gotten 8 views and no conversions

You'd probably have greater chance of conversions if you contacted the owners of the fanpages or groups and asked them if they'd be interested in doing a JV so they promote cpa offers to their members and split the profits 50/50 with you.

I dont think contacting a celeberity or the person tht runs there facebook page is quite that easy, and im sure most celeberitys make enough money. Im not talking about pages like the jim carey fan club, im talkin about his official facebook page.

Imagine the money Lady Gaga would make promoting CPA to her 44 MILLION fans on facebook thow....

Basically, you are spamming celebrity Facebook pages, and no, you don't have rights to use Jim Carrey's photo on your website. Unless you can find an image with rights that lets you use it commercially, but I'm gonna say that's not bloody likely.

make a page - i love "celebrity name" and this way nobody can take the page from you and you can use a celeb pic on there. and start collecting emails from them and market trough that.

I think its a great Idea of money making in short but it will not result you for long term basis and you may become a spammer. So do do it more. Use it as a trick.
