I tried them. You can't add HTML to the site. No adsense, no CPA, no anything. Which means they give you a useless webpage for 1 dollar. lol |

Nice.. I've heard of lots of negative experiences by using 1 and 1's hosting, but hopefully the domain registrations are ok..

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THIS COMPANY. 1 & 1 IS THE WORST REGISTRAR OUT THERE. THEY WILL CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD, FOREVER, THEY MAKE IT NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO CANCEL. BEWARE!

Yes guys, Cash37 is exactly right. They are notorious for screwing people over and having a bad rep. I also had a bad experience with them, and I know several others that have as well. |

You can register domain and change DNS pointing to your own hosting. Pretty good deal for $1 with free privacy registration.

![]() Thank you for contacting us. We recognize your need for assistance about this issue. We checked your domain name xxxxx.com and noticed it was a new registration. We will advise you to please wait within 24-48 hours for your domain name will be Ready in your 1&1 Control Panel. However, you will receive an invoice once the charge will go through to your paypal and the approximate time frame for your paypal to be debited is after 3 days when you had ordered the domain. Furthermore, we advise you to contact our Billing Department to check whether the charge is already been credited to your paypal.

Yes, it takes around 24 hours, first when you order the status will be "domain name is requested", in this stage you can not change DNS yet. Then when it is ready it will become "ready", when you can change DNS setting.

"The name server is not sufficient or hasn't been approved." I have had the same private nameservers for a few years, so I'm sure I have entered the correct information. I have no idea what the "been approved" business is about, unless 1&1 has to approve the nameservers. Personally, there are too many hoops I have to jump through to save a few bucks. I never have the issues with Namecheap or Godaddy.

I just purchased a domain, I must say, I'm already very annoyed with them, with any other registrar I've used, I've been able to login right away and change the nameservers..

I have 12 domains with 1and1.com and they arbitrarily just charged my bank account $19.96, I just called my bank and had them reverse the charge. It made me very apprehensive about registering any other domains with them at this point. Yes, they get messages when you try to change the DNS, however, just click it a couple times...they are just wanting you to confirm that you are the one approving the change. It takes 24-48 hours for any domain to "propogate" and be available to change DNS. Just because you can change the DNS doesn't mean the domain is available for use, yet. Sometimes it is, sometimes it's not. It's really not that complicated to change domain registrars, you just have to make sure you are 60 days past the initial registration of the domain. You make sure you have your WHOIS info updated with the correct email address and when you go to your new registrar, you request a transfer, they will email you a confirmation, you confirm, then you are transferred. At the old registrar, they cannot bill you for an account that has no domains on it. For now, I will stay with 1and1.com for the 12 domains I have with them, however, I don't think I am going to register any more domains with them. If I need to register any other domains, I may just go with namecheap and see if they are better. So, that's it...I hope that was helpful to all of you. |

It's not that they are bad with billing, they know what they are doing. They are thieves and they know it! Unfortunately, when you are an Internet Company and are that big, you can get away with stuff like that forever. |

Thanks for the share but from personal experience 1&1 is an awful company. Back in the 2005 I registered a few domains with them for 1 year (no auto renewal). After the domains expired and were subsequently registered by other people, the company kept billing me (annually). Google `1&1 scam` and you`ll see this is a common complaint about them.

I used 1 and 1 years ago and the admin panel was so aggravating. I dont if they improved it yet. I use namecheap for my domain names and hostgator for webhosting and they both have great customer support, so I have just stuck with them.

That is super cheap, but I really do not like 1 & 1. If you are willing to deal with awful customer service and slow DNS updates to receive the $.99 domain then go for it.

STAY AWAY from 1&1. They pulled the old collection agency trick with me when I tried to cancel their services. They kept trying to bill me... well you've already heard this story. Their customer service is a joke!

| This is very tempting, but honestly would NEVER buy anything from 1 & 1 again. Their billing is horrible. Their contracts are ridiculous and they over charged me, I went through a long dispute process with them and my credit card company, won the dispute and even after I won the dispute those A-holes sent me to collections for like hundred something dollars. I know a lot of people praise them I just had a horrible experience with them. O and I just called godaddy and they said that $1 promo is old and no longer active L bummer.. |

If your going to purchase to flip it, it could be a problem because i'm pretty sure they don't do free transfer. It costs to transfer the domain over to your buyer from 1&1.
