Hey everyone. I've had my composting website up (crazyaboutcompost.com) and running for just over a year, and I'm starting to build a nice following...meeting new people, helping them solve their problems and generally enjoying it. I've also scored dropshipping for the two major products that I believe in and do well with via Youtube video reviews...took some time and traffic to get them, but I did. However, it's not enough (duh!). My site isn't sales focused as much as it is information about all things composting, and I'm not trying to sell products I don't believe in (ie I don't sell 50 different compost tumblers). I'd like to get into advertising, but I have to wonder if that's a good idea. Wouldn't advertising just steer people away from my few sales here and there? What do you think? I haven't had any luck with bigger advertising groups picking me up, either... mainly text-link-ads.com . Any recommendations on advertisers? Any suggestions for how to further monetize my site with ads would be excellent... I guess I'm not sure if ads would help or hurt me...what do you think? Thanks! |

Well no one can give you exact answer but only testing can help you . Also if you do News letters then adding a banner in footer of email is n`t bad.

I guess I've failed then...I have an opt-in with a Free Composting Guide on the right hand side above the fold! I should add a graphic to that with a big arrow.

Hi Tylerw, as guilcoelho has suggested using Aweber is a great idea. If you have even a small number of visitors and you offer them a free book using Aweber with a link back to your site, you will soon build up a list of people who you can send regular emails to with more free reports about gardening and compost. After a short while you will build up their trust and start selling to them. I often do not buy from a website until I have visited it a few times and most people are the same, so once you have your visitors coming back to your site, I am sure you will notice a great improvement in your sales. Good luck with your business. Ged |

Why Aweber vs. iContact? Any main reason?
