CPA,CPS,CPL,CPC ,etc are all part of Affiliate marketing
They determine the payout criteria

both are very similar. the main difference that cpa networks gives a lot zip/email submit offers. that means that people don't need to pay for something they get. so with right strategy it can be more easy to get leads than to try to sell some products.
i think to get best results you need to be in both.

and a bit off topic. maybe somebody knows any thread with good discussion about affiliate networks. try to find some with good offers and which pay to paypal. tried to use search but no luck.

Terminology wise you may be getting mixed up. I think the main question is whether there is a benefit to CPL versus CPS campaigns.

Of course the answer is yes. They are two different beasts but CPL campaigns are generally easier to convert than CPS campaigns all else equal. The benefit of CPS campaigns are that they are normally more sustainable and long term, and they cover more niches and traffic possibilities.

i've alway's considered cpa's in "free offers" you know, the "you give us your email and we'll give you a change to get a FREE ipad"...type of campaign

vs.

Affiliate Marketing as being in cj.com or amazon or profitshare.com.
you promote products for people to BUY....

I think this is a great explanation.

Generating leads for a company is always going to be easier than selling a product. However, a sale is a sale and will never come with a "scrub" or cause you to get dumped by the advertiser.

There are some "not-so-great" challenges to both styles of marketing.

i think you meant to ask is cpa better than cps, like in sales.

the answer is yes generally, but it depends on how you do it.

conversion is much easier as the user dont need to purchase nything for u to get a commission.

but cps is also good and can be better if you know how to target yur audience.

1. Monthly SEO performance plan
2. Link Building Packages
3. VAs rental

Pain is a perception, so is defeat, self esteem & happiness !

I have been doing this stuff for a long time and I have always looked at CPA...Cost Per Action and that is an action has to be taken at the landing page (in order to be paid) regardless if the outcome is a sale or lead.

CPA is still affiliate marketing because you are an affiliate of the CPA network rather than being direct with the advertiser.

If you can work out a deal directly with the advertiser that may be more beneficial to you if you can get a better payout than with the CPA network. But unless your able to drive some serious traffic, then going through a network may be the only way for you to get the offer.

Then at the same time there are many offers that you can become an affiliate for directly with the advertiser that don't exist on networks and maybe this what you are asking about?

In the end, it all comes down to your ability to drive cost effective traffic that converts. So you need to first take this in to consideration, because you could have the best offer in the world and if you can't profit from your traffic generation to it, then what does it matter. At the same time you might be able to generate good traffic to a lesser offer and be able to scale it up as well and make a good profit...it's all about your traffic generation skills.
