It seems that every offer for 'win an ipad' or 'win a gift card' asks for a phone number and tries to lure people into subscribing to a $5/week charge. Even the ones that convert only at email or zip submit will still try and get people to activate a mobile subscription on the backend. I know the tiny-print disclaimer on the page is "perfectly legal", I am just want to find a high converting offer where no one gets burned. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. |

I don't think with mobile they really get burned. You can always text "STOP" or something similar, and it stops charging you. Yes, it's kind of shady how it's set up, but when I've opted out of a mobile offer I really didn't want it has always completely STOPPED at that point. I can't speak for how every company operates though. It doesn't continue on and on (like pulling teeth) trying to get a scammy re-bill reversed. ![]() Quote:

Common mate! Mobile offers are not scams.. They are big $$$! Just run massive traffic to them. Somebody will do them... Recommended adsimilis for mobile offers.. |

The only problem is that people are not getting anything in return for their $5/week. Its not the worst thing in the world, but I am also not sure these ipads and gift cards even exist to be given away. I would love to make $4-8 per conversion, so I welcome any explanations on how subscribers are getting a fair exchange of value for their money. |

I have the same issue. What affiliate in his right mind would run this crap towards their friends & family? Probably none. Even the article says: The email submit is the shadiest of all affiliate offers. CPA in itself is regarded as the shadiest tint of marketing, but submits are the worst by far.Ok.. i dunno if this makes me feel any better. Zero sum game. That's what a lot of these CPA offers are... You might win, but someone is definitely losing. I'll be honest. I ran some CPA free trial rebills.. till I started reading about the lawsuits, then I stopped doing CPA altogether. So I asked myself.. how are free trial rebills any less "ethical" than, say, mortgages, cell phone bills, or even dating sites? Simple: EXPECTATION. If you are being billed with the expectation of BEING billed, that's what makes it "ok", especially in eyes of FTC and as far as your conscience as a marketer. Of course with mortgages, cell phone bills, etc... these companies are actually delivering you value. With ring tones, probably not. I still have issue with most CPA offers.. if there are any legitimate non-scammy CPA offers that actually deliver value, then i'll be glad to run them. |
