Default My Experience with Adwords and CPA marketing

So I'm a great reader of this forume, but first time poster, and I wanted to talk about my experience and see if someone could help point me in a better direction. I have always done internet marketing, but was a pretty heavy snowshoe spammer. My wife luckily got a very highly paying job and now im a stay at home dad, and trying to do something a little more low key and legal like CPA/CPC marketing.

First Day: I get a coupon for $100 to a new adwords account. My buddy with affiliate network opens up his offers to me. I set up a campaign for a buy-from-vendor lead generating landing page at $25 a lead for about 0.70 cpc. I smile smugly. This will work great.

Third Day: Account goes active. I get 60-70 clicks on the page. Nothing converts. Total loss, but I take it as learning experiment. I look for a new offer. Sign up for big affiliate network. Shocked at spammy offers. Join another big affiliate network. Slightly better, so I grab a one field email capture gift card offer for the NFL. Adwords account immediately suspended because of low quality web content being advertised. I angrily email adwords helpcenter.

Fourth Day: Waiting for that to get back up, I decide to use facebook cpa ads. I use a christian dating site, focus in on keywords in likes, get a good audience of single men, put some money down in facebook. Ad is disapproved because the christian site is owned by adultfriendfinder network. I play video games in frustration.

Fifth day: Adwords back up with apologies and a friendly email. I decided to do a more mainstream offer like insurance, bingo, and electronics. CPCs are huge though, so I settle on credit card offers. Set up campaign diligently, with tons of different ads targeting different possible niches. I smile smugly. This will totally work.

Today: My adwords account has been permanently suspended for continued violations of some agreement that offers very vague directives. Apparently credit cards are a no-go as well. Ive never seen a company so willing to throw away business.

I am really frustrated at my early attempts. Anyone have any words of wisdom, or failing that, solace?

Well you broke two of their rules in a couple days. They do not allow email submits and they do not allow bingo. They "forgave" you once, but the second time you were under a red flag anyway.

You can use Adwords still, but it's not like you did. It takes extra steps and insulation from all affiliate links to do it. Facebook is another good place, but dating on facebook is not easy without being creative or cloaking.

The good part is you're taking action and documenting it. Which means you're learning from your tests. Keep going. You will hit a campaign that just works and it will usually be one you hesitated to even try because you pre judged it as something that wouldn't work.

Best bet is to just move on, use bing or a 2nd tier ppc network

Yeah just like what ChrisBa said, use what you learned and move on to Bing, LeadImpact, 7search etc.

i'm new also and i read that adwords just has so many restrictions that it seems like not being worth the effort for cpa. i'm sure adwords is good for other, bigger campaigns/local campaigns, but i've decided to just stay away for now. i'm testing 7search now.

All i can tell is that adwords always cares about smooth user experience & doesn't allow bridge pages! Try some other offers, I am having decent success with movie rentals offer!
