Default Amazon average earnings?

Hey,

I am starting a new blog in a very narrow and specific niche so I wonder what can i expect of being Amazon's affiliate. I know that it depends on traffic and CTR's but what are your experiences? Does it bring you some decent amounts?

tnx

Actually amazon commissions are not much high so a blog shouldn't be a huge stream of income. Since getting rank for amazon websites is easier than adsense sites I'd have at least 10-20 of them to expect good income. My Amazon websites are making $20-$30/m on average.

WOW! how many sales do you get per day? You must be getting large number of sales since amazon commission rate is between 4% to 15%

I haven't done any amazon products review or things like that before.
But I do know one of my friend doing 'okay'
he started not too long ago and making $350/month.
I assume he's going to churn out another 10 or 20 of those sites soon.

4% , 5% , 6% commissions really puts me off . Let alone 24hours cookie
but it works

People trust Amazon and that`s a very strong point while promoting Amazon products .

Yeh 24 hours cookie seems bad, but I get most sale (at the moment) from amazon, mainly due to the fact that (i think) that people trust amazon, so are more likely to buy there and then.

On the other hand, One other site I advertise for has a 999day cookie, and a few days ago I got a commission from a cookie dating back to summer 2009 lol.

lol...dating back in 2009...that guy never clear his history after things clogging up..
but anyway 24hours really bad..
when ppl add to cart that is 30days cookie.

so, 24hours...say you THINK you want to buy a Kindle. Will you pull your credit card to buy it within 24hours? Is a question I would like to get some answer from

Lol I know, I clear my cookies every month or so.

I think Amazon know what its doing. With so many products for affiliates to advertise and potentially sell, they know that would be good enough even with the 24 hr cookies.

Quite a few times with Amazon, Ive got credit for "selling" something I wasnt even advertising. I guess even if the person doesnt buy the thing they initially clicked on your ad for, Amazon are quite good at cross selling, and sometimes if pays off for us

Yeah, thanks for answers people. After reading them I think I'll give it a shot on my new page but expecting maybe just 100$ per month as my top (all up is a reward). Based on short term cookies catching a long tail is a must with Amazon books and that i'll try. In this current niche I will catch few movies also, so...
Of course i will have other products but this is worth a shot.
