My First CPA Failures

So far I've tested two different CPA offers one is a zip submit, and the other is an e-mail submit. Both are direct linked.

My Zip Submit is without a doubt based around a very hot item. It has received 306 unique clicks and only 4 legitimate conversions. The traffic was sent primarily from 7search and the affiliate network is CPAWay. I can't understand why the conversion rate is so terrible?

The other offer is an E-Mail submit also with CPAWay with traffic primarily being sent from POF. 26 clicks and 3 leads. Not so bad, but the campaign still isn't breaking even.

Anyone have experience running a zip submit with 7 search? I researched my target audience and tailored the keywords to them and I am the highest bidder on the network. I'm not sure what else I could be doing wrong.

Don't forget that CPA companies tend to shave, and when they aren't, the advertisers are shaving & scrubbing. The POF traffic is getting you about 10% conversion and there is no reason your campaign shouldn't be profiting. Scale that one up. Remember 7search isn't exactly the biggest and most used search engine. Try your luck with adcenter. I have been MUCH more successful with that.

It's true that some campaigns do scrub but even still, your stats should be higher for the amount of traffic you're getting.

If you've already passed 300+ clicks with only 4 completions, then I would recommend choosing a new campaign to promote. While some campaigns have really great themes and it can be difficult to let them go, it's not even worth your time to continue promoting them if they have a poor conversion rate.

On our network, we've found that a good sample size for testing campaigns is around 50 clicks, but of course sample sizes should vary according to your promotion methods.

7Search doesn't have the highest quality traffic, but it is still quite easy to make a profit. You need to be able to think outside the box.

For one of my offers, I spend about 10 cents per day getting clicks for 1 penny each. This will get me about one conversion every other day. Yes, this isn't a lot, but there is strength in numbers

If CPA were just that easy everyone would be doing it. It takes time, patience, intuition, and sometimes luck to find a profitable campaign. Keep trying new offers and keywords and even traffic sources if it's not working out for you. But definitely try only one or two things at once if you're just starting out. Don't spread yourself too thin too fast.

Hmmm did you ask your AM how the offer is being ran?? As far as the traffic source?? Is ppc the most lucrative method of promotion??? It could be the quality of traffic. You said it was a hot item, is this stats talking or just you??? Whats the epc of the offer? Lots of things come into play, zip submits you have to be really creative to run those seriously but you CAN make bank.

I know PPC is allowed I haven't inquired into which promotion methods are most lucrative. Is it common practice for AM to divulge this information?

The zip submit earns me 1.25 per action and my epc is 0.02427. I don't know what it is across the board I don't think CPAWay provides that information. The offer revolves around a hot topic item, I don't know if the offer itself is 'hot'. I am paying 0.06 cents per click and as far as I know (being a newb) my keywords are well targeted.

Hey Chris I responded with some more info in the post above. 7Search only allows me to target by region and keyword. I'm paying 0.06 cents per click on an offer that should make me $1.25 per action.

Update on my e-mail submit with POF. Today's impressions 100,000 bidding at .10c CPM with 20 clicks logged in my POF advertising account. On my CPAWay Reporting page it says I only have 6 unique clicks (out of 7 clicks total) and 1 conversion. The conversions are supposedly reported in real time. How can I have 20 clicks on POF and only 7 total clicks on CPAWay?

Yesterday the offer converted at 43% today the same offer converted at 17% with the exact same traffic, same everything from pof advertising.

My zip submit has 20 clicks today and 0 conversions. The ad clearly states 'enter your zip' so whoever clicked my ad should have already been primed to enter those 5 numbers.

    Very interesting!

I had the word "Free" in both of my ads. I have eliminated them from both. I made a clone copy of the POF ad but with a different image on the creative and it was denied. So I eliminated the word free from my current ad and it's pending approval --- again hopefully it won't get denied like it's cloned copies were.

Let's see if eliminating the word FREE from my campaigns will show an increase in my conversion rate.
