Default Question for all of you pros

Ok, so I just found out about all of this affiliate marketing stuff a few days ago. So I am a huge newb. That said, I have been reading a ton of stuff, and watching videos. Looking into programs and reading stuff on this message board. What I see is a lot of people (this forum included) pushing their "system", which I imagine is a copy of a system that has been around for a long time, but everyone just promises they sky. I have no doubt that there are people who make boat loads of cash doing this, so I bought a system. Profit Jackpot (some of you are probably saying "sucker" after reading that). I have since asked for a refund on it. I found that it expects that you already know steps 1, 2 and 3 so they start the program at steps 4, 5 and 6.

My question to you guys is; Is there a cheap course that covers ALL of this stuff, from the very start, that will help someone like me out. I am not looking for "make millions in minutes" type things, but something that will actually teach me the foundations of building something. I have a pretty decent understanding of how to build a webpage, but wordpress, for example, is completely new to me (their back end). All of their plugins, extensions etc...?

I get the point of the keywords on the back end, and within your sites content, as well as the importance of "real" content, and having a niche. I know there are many different ways to doing this sort of marketing, PPC/PPV and all that other stuff, but is something out there that would say. This is what X is, and here is where you start with it, and how to build it.

From what I have read on here, a lot of people suggest paying the war room fee as there is lots of valuable info in there. I am not opposed to it, but going through thread after thread, with 1 piece of info on this type, and another thread with 1 piece of info on that type is a very time consuming, and it also allows you to forget one thing, or if one is to feed into the other, it's lost due to separation.

Like I said, I know there is no silver bullet that will make me millions in minutes (although a lot of peoples sites like to tell you otherwise), but I do understand there are real packages/courses out there that can actually get you off the ground, that give you the real info you need to build something for yourself.

So I ask if there is anyone who has been in my position in the past (i have no doubt there is a lot), and you have a suggestion that ACTUALLY helped you get started, and actually proved to be financially rewarding (you actually made money) and can suggest it, please do. I really like this form of commerce, and it's something I would like to pursue further.

Thanks in advance!

I like to hang through this part of the Warrior Forum once in a while, and I am really busy so I didn't get the time to go past the first 2 paragraphs of your post (no offence attended).

I'll tell you one thing, and remember this. If you want to be successful in affiliate marketing, go to an advertising platform, whip out your credit card and lose some cash. You'll learn oodles more than any course can teach you.

My 2 cents.

FOCUS! Remember FOCUS is the key. No matter you choose free traffic or paid traffic, be sure to focus on one traffic source and learn it well. Never give up!!!

I read your entire post and can tell you're smart and on the right track.

I can't recommend any paid information sources, but I will say that offervault.com has a bunch of "webinars" that are free videos teaching affiliate marketers how to make money in various traffic sources and niches. Some of them are more helpful than others so don't just follow them blindly. Watch the ones that specifically have to do with CPA, a lot of them start from the basics before getting into more advanced techniques.

Get a feel for what techniques you're understanding pretty well and make a choice and stick with it. learn everything you can but don't spread yourself too thin with multiple traffic sources when you're just starting out.

Also, learn all the terms and lingo of the industry before you watch videos or read ebooks or you'll be completely lost.

You could probably find a great thread here on the forums with a glossary of terms.

Hi Twoone,

I read your entire Post also... It's not often that I comment on anyone's post but I have been in your shoes...and I can relate to your situation...

There is so much out there to learn... BUT you are in the right spot...

I agree with Josh, in his post above about learning the terms and lingo...

Try this... go to Google and type in "chris farrell membership"

he provides a lot of free content and training material... of'course you will probably be offered an upsell or "OTO" -- OTO = "One Time Offer" in the future but that's ok...

take a look at his site... he is a pretty honest trainer...

Personally - I think prior to looking into systems/training/etc you should first come up with some goals and determine how you would like to get there.. The biggest mistake that most people make when starting out in affiliate marketing is going WAY too broad (and this applies for everything)..

Let me explain, when you start, you want to focus on one traffic source, the reasoning behind this is you need to learn it and master it so to speak before moving on. You do eventually want to diversify and get into other traffic sources, but there is no point until you learn the one well..

This actually goes for niches as well, you want to learn 1 niche before moving on to another..again the idea is you need to master it first..

So figure out the path you want to go, then go down that path and stay on it, don't skip off to other paths until you learn it well..

My 2 cents - always focus on one or two things. As ChrisBa says if you will go too broad you will loose the target.

I agree with the above, but I can also see what he or she is saying. It's hard to choose which route to take when you don't know what routes are available to take in the first place!

So that is your first step. You need to research your options, then select the one or two that appeal to you most. Everyone is different so what one person likes another may not, but that's human nature.

Here's a short list to get you started, since you posted in the CPA section, we'll just focus on CPA marketing:

- Send PPC traffic to your own site which has CPA offers on it
- Send PPC traffic to the offer's site directly which is a CPA offer
- Send SEO traffic to your own site which has CPA offers on it
- Send SEO traffic to the offer's site directly which is a CPA offer
- Send CPV traffic to your own site which has CPA offers on it
- Send CPV traffic to the offer's site directly which is a CPA offer
- Send Media Buy traffic to your own site which has CPA offers on it
- Send Media Buy to the offer's site directly which is a CPA offer

That's a very basic view of the CPA marketing world. There are a lot of steps involved and it's not that simple. But that gives you a start. Once you figure out which route you want to take, select it and research that route.
