How to create a forum?

I want to create a forum for any good niche and display my ads. Do you guys know any free forum script which is easy to use and customize and allows own adverts.

Can I include my ads on simplemachines or phpBB?
Today I created a forum with simplemachines but I can't find any own html code option.

In my experience, forums are a bit harder to earn money on with ads. (At least per-visit, but on the hand it is easier to drive more traffic so...)

You might want to check this article about creating forums for website marketing

Generally speaking, all forum solutions will allow you to insert your own ads if you are willing to edit the themes/templates a little

phpbb is a reasonable forum software which is fairly good for being free..

You could also use Xenforo which will cost you about $140 for a license. Or, Vbulletin, using Vbulletin you can also use VbSEO with it. But, from what I've read Xenforo has better SEO capabilities than Vbulletin as everything's built in so to speak.

wordpress is cheap and set up to do it and good for seo
