Default CPA - Sell Our Soul To The Devil - I'm In...Not!!!

How much is our integrity worth? I recently have been looking to promote CPA offers and many suggest email/zip submits and everyone goes on and on how much money they are making from such foolish adventures. Are we selling our souls out...and for what...a little bit of cash?

Have we actually looked at what we are trying to promote? Consider the Ipad 2 or even the $500 gift cards. Have you seen what hoops people must go through to get their precious gift?

"Eligible members can receive the incentive gift package by completing
two reward offers from each of the Silver and Gold reward offer page
options and nine reward offers from the Platinum reward offer page
options and refer 3 friends to do the same."

13 Offers + Get 3 more suckers to do the same...I can't believe someone would want to promote such an offer.

Surely there are better ways to make an honest buck and not screw our fellow man in the process.

I, like everyone on this message board are out there trying to make a living, but I vote to opt out of such nonsense where I have to take advantage of someone just for money.

It seems there are plenty of other CPA offers out there, although more difficult to promote, that we can promote without taking advantage of each other.

Am I off base here...What are your thoughts?

there are some scandelous cpa offers. for example, the vast majority of networks will try and push "re bill " offers on you, which is esentially legal fraud. The buyer pays $9 for a trial of something, then make it virtually impossible for you to stop the $79 per month payment that happens like 14 days later when you forget to jump through hoops to keep it from happening. the best part is, they don't make it easy AT ALL for the buyer to STOP these recurring monthly payments, its just one of those things i guess, and nobody seems to be doing ANYTHING about these practices. That's why they pay you like $40-$70 a conversion on these offers, since they know they will make SOOOO much in the long run.

very scandolous. i agree.

I usually put myself in the shoes of the visitor. If I got a really scamy vibe from it then I will not promote it. This happens to be how I feel with most CPA offers so I rarely do it at all.

Don't those outfits get shut down for fraud eventually? I know that in some cases they just shut down one domain and start back up the next week with a new name and the same scams....

These types of offers have to be presented to the right targeted traffic such as freebie seekers, coupon seekers or people interested in taking surveys other wise never mind worrying about your integrity, you wont make any money.

Have you seen the crap you have to put up with, I once was emailed an offer for a free lap top well before I got into internet marketing so I did not know it was cpa but in order to qualify I had to complete a survey and it was pages and pages of surveys that I thought would never end and I basically gave up, it was not worth the hassle.

You can click but there is nothing here

its hard to say. i wish that were the case, but i don't know enough about them. what's great is since the cpa networks KNOW they'll make money off these offers, they have no problem at all promoting them. i've also networked with other cpa affiliates that confirm they do sometime get shut down though, as they'll complain they had a profitalbe campagin set up that gets shut down for 'no reason' lol.

i know there was a wso i bought about two years ago, that talked about a process of contacting a chinese manufacturer and creating a "acai berry" pill, then setting up a rebill process with some affiliate networks lol. apparently its profitable enough and the consequences are not so severe that you lose money on the deal :P

Ok, the person has to jump through more hoops than a circus act to get the free ipad, etc.. but as long as it is a legit offer, you shouldn't feel guilty about promoting it. I think the majority of people who fill in their email aren't daft enough to believe they are going to get a free ipad for just entering their email address.

im not talking about the email submits as much as the rebill trial offers. if you start looking at the offers being promoted and doing your research you will find:
a ton of complaints about fradulent billing practices as well as
the product being crap and not doing anything it advertised.

as far as the email submits, i also fell for the email the first time i saw it with a former email address and then received so many advertisement emails that eventually i just closed the address. not only that, but i never received my computer either lol. in fact, i have never actually met anyone that has received their computer or ipad, though i guess they do somehow.

There are some good CPA offers on Commission Junction. I pay a lot of my rent with them.

You're right. You lie down with dogs, you come up with fleas.

There are too many honest ways to make a living to bother with scumbag offers.

There are plenty of offers in the CPA space that aren't the least bit shady. Sure, there's a lot of really shady stuff (nothing like 2009 though) still around, but you can definitely avoid it.

Yeah there are plenty of offers out there that aren't shady, even email/zip submits, but I agree that many offers are definitely not the most ethical. I find it less ethical promoting clickbank products that exaggerate, or even straight up lie about what the product offers. At least with CPA you aren't necessarily making anyone pay for something.

Now let's not be to dramatic here, there are plenty of legitimate CPA offers such as dating sites, loans, credit cards, deal of the day (groupon, etc) and the list goes on..

Yes e-mail submits aren't the most ethically correct, but there are other types of offers out there

So, it seems that everyone here is saying dump the email submits and go for the first page type of offers. Aree those generally more legit?

The reason this occurs to people is because they dont read the Terms and Conditions, thus getting ****ed by the fine print. Im part of the freebie industry, I know plenty about those kinds of offers.

I made millions on email submits in 2003-2005 running on banners, but honestly in those days it was easier to get the product, because there were more people who would forward to their friends and their friends would sign up.

The real problem with the emails submits is the trademark violations and consumer confusion. Most of the companies doing them now hide and switch names.

Still, you know whats worse, all the brands that support these offers and pretend to know nothing about it...

I have tried to broach this topic a couple of times about CPA and Clickbank, but the threads never gained any traction. Far more sinister than email submits are the mobile submits with high recurring charges.

I have tried to restrict my efforts to promoting legitimate brands that provide actual value. I think CJ and GAN seem to have the least amount of junk offers, but are subsequently harder to promote than scam giveaways.

It's a shame that none of the more legit freebie companies advertise through email submits. Then again they probably get enough viral traffic that email submit advertising would be counter-productive.

But you can also look at it this way - if you're promoting incentivized email submit offers, then at least the user is gaining something out of the deal (from you). They are also less likely to actually go through the advert's shenanigans since they are probably just doing it for whatever incentive you are giving them. Of course the advert's are aware of this, but if they even get 1 out of 100 leads to go through their hoops, then they're still making a good profit. The 99 wiser people end up with something small, and you profit as well.

There are lots of CPL stuff that isn't shady. Lead generation, the basis for CPA, is an industry (like many) that can be played in a completely ethical and value-added manner or played on the dark side, based on deception and zero value added.

The nice thing is that there is this spectrum you can play in, the bad thing is that numbers wise, most people play more with the darker offers. To each his own
