So down the road I am thinking of using VigLink as a backup plan.

Whether VigLink would be a good fit in your situation may depend on the reason why the affiliate manager may stop working with you, if you are still adhering to the program's rules VigLink can be a good alternative (but if you aren't then a network can still opt not to work with you even if you are using VigLink). Never used it. But it seems like an in-line text advertising network; but one that pays you commissions if a visitor makes a purchase. Others normally pay just for the click-through.
