Default How sweepstake/surveys sites make their money

im trying to understand something.
I run a successful gpt website, and i feel im missing something.
I feel im working hard, and get the least %% in this whole chain.

i send leads to surveys sites, sweepstake sites, or any other form of sites that collect your information, while saying you can get a ipod as a price bla bla.

then, they not only collect your information, they are also signing you up for other offers on the way (coreg)

the way i understand is this:
let take a site like surveys.co.uk . they are not really a survey site, they are just a portal to collect your information to sell it.
THEY BUY LEADS from networks (non incent mainly) and media buying.
Lets say they pay 5$ for a person filling out the whole survey path .
then when he fill it, they make him signup for other stuff on the way (coreg), and sell this to another network immediately.
By doing the coreg, they make sure they are at least break even, or maybe profit (5$ and more commission from the other network).

Then lets say they did this over 10,000 quality leads.
as long as they break even or more, what they get is:
a list of 10,000 real people who they can then email stuff and make money of that list.
So really they are getting this list for free, right ?
Not only this, since they answer questions in the survey, they can sort the people by groups, so they know what offer to send them.

Do i get it right ?
Dose this how sites like surveys.co.uk make tons of money ?
(Or any other portal that collect data)

If so, i would surly would be interested to get into this business, and make these portals and leverage of the 'free' lists i get.

Like any business im sure its not as easy as it sound like.
So im posting this to get advice.
First of all, dose what i describe here, is true ?
2nd, how can i make this work for me ?

I doubt you have a double figure share of the market.

I myself own a successful GPT website and would love to own even 0.5-1% of the industry as it is so big with so many sites competing.

To answer your question, yes that is correct although I'm sure they make profits on the path of the offer without sending emails to their lists. I also believe they sell information also to different company's who then spam your emails.

To get one set up can be quite cheap / 300-400 bucks, however it's the advertising of the offer that's the hard part... You really need a large budget to run a lot of traffic and make any sort of profit, the profit is in the quantity as margins are not great at all

Hope this helps,

Andy

Thanks for your feedback.
About the GPT site, its doing well. had it for a few years now. but that was not the point of this post. im talking about NON-INCENT traffic here.

About the coreg,
If its a simple as i thought,
Would it now be a smart idea, to just buy leads from a cpa network ?
then collect opt it for my list, then try and make them tick the boxes for the coreg, so then i cover the cost of the lead, and hopefully profit.

If that what i do, why would i need a huge budget?
I mean 5k as an advertiser at a cpa network would it enough to start with, wouldn't it ?

Do you think buying from one network, and selling to another would be a good idea ? would they allow it ?

If you wouldn't mind , feel free to pm me your site name - I like building up a network of site owners

Only problem is how many of the leads would truely be interested in whatever you have to offer in your follow up emails? I know many of my members use different emails for offers to increase conversion rates, and Im honestly not sure how often they check those emails, that's the problem with incent traffic.

If however, you went down non incent route then I don't see any reason why this wouldn't be possible.

As I said, send me a link to your website and a contact address and I can maybe link you up with a few people who could help, may even be interested in a jv with you if you are interested

dino27 that's information I would like to know as well. I think it would be great to put together your own surveys and have affiliates send traffic to it and build your list. And if you can break even on the front end then that's even better. If you find out pm me and let me know

Why not build your own offers?

You have a good feel for what those merchants are doing, build your own path, fill it with other cpa offers and keep everything internal.
