Landing Page examples?

Hi, newbie here to CPA. Was hoping someone would be able to answer a couple questions for me...much appreciated.

- With CPA, what is the purpose of a landing page? Do people land on them and click through to be directed to offers?

Why not just have your subdomain link go to the offers directly?

- Also, can anyone show me an example of a landing page, what it looks like?

Landing pages are used to "presell" the visitor a bit before sending them off to the site where you get paid. Sometimes merchants have really crappy landing pages and you need to presell.

They're also used to collect information first, then send them off to the merchants page.

For examples just google your primary keyword and you'll see plenty.

Does one landing page fit all, or do they have to be specially designed?

Like ppc-coach said, landing pages are used to pre-sell the offer, it gives you more control of the traffic as you can add various other links to your landing page as well, or pop-ups, e-mail collects, etc..
