Default Facebook Ads

I'm trying to test some offers using Facebook ads but I have some questions. If you are doing the CPM, how long do you wait (amount of impressions) before you switch up the campaign or when is a good sign that the campaign isn't going to be profitable? Also, are there any tips for promoting facebook fanpages? I think my biggest problem right now is targeting. I'm using quantcast for demographics but as far as interests, that is pretty hard especially when the niche can cater to different kinds of people.

Hey mekap04 when marketing an offer on Facebook, you must make sure it is super targeted before you do CPM. For example: Weight loss product for women that just had a child 1 to 6 months ago, that one always worked for me! If you are promoting something that has a really big market and is not super targeted you will do CPC. What you will do is test CPM with about $10 and if you have 30 clicks or less its a 99% chance that it is not going to do good. and if you have no conversions then it is really time to move on

I personally spend about $2.50 per campaign to test them out. Some might thing you have to spend more, but in my tests $2.50 is just enough to get a decent idea.

This will vary of course if the CPM is very high.

OK, so let's say I spend around $2.50 or maybe $5 to test CPM. What would be a good CTR because the CTR rates I'm getting so far look bad (.008)

@Sign Up,

I wouldn't say that's the best way to look at it.

$5.00 is a great estimate, but if you only allow yourself 1 test to acquire 0.008%, then you may have missed out on another test which could have converted at 0.100% or even 0.500%

It's about the testing.

I would suggest AIMING for a 0.100% as your initial CTR, but just because you get 0.100%, doesn't mean you can't increase that all the way up to 1.5%.

So try to test out different strategies with different images, titles, descriptions, until you find the best CTR.

First of all you'll burn all your money on Facebook CPM. People are too busy "stalking" others on FB or chatting to notice your "impression". I've been doing a lot of tests and CPM sucks!
On the other side my current CPC ads are between 0.11 - 0.14% CTR. Everything above 0.05-0.06% CTR is good.

This is not hard and fast rule, since your CTR sucks, thats why CPC model suits you. Anyone having CTR > 0.5 % should always aim for CPM.

I generally get 0.3 - 0.8 % CTR, and split test with CPM the ads which get high CTR, the price reduce to pennies per click.

5-10 USD is better to TEST and get an IDEA is it worthy to go with or NOT.
And for facebook fan page promotion:- Link your FB Fan page to your Website. Include it in Signature of your Email, Newsletter etc.
