Default Adwords, it seems so easy :)

From what I've heard it seems fairly easy to setup a site with a good product. Buy traffic through google adwords and get traffic and make sales..

I'm sure it's not THAT easy...

Any thoughts on this?

do you own a product?

is your Landing page compliant to their TOS?

Do you have privacy ,terms, contacts..on your website?

Contact google and ask if its good to go.

A one-page landing page will get you banned before your ads set live

It's incredibly easy to do as you describe. Very easy. The hard part is making enough sales to cover the PPC costs!!

The good old google payday days are over, now you've got to grind out campaigns to make them work! Still works though!

It's not easy if you want to survive in PPC. You have to keep monitoring your campaigns & make adjustments if necessary. If not, you'll have a losing campaign which costs you money.

I personally have made profit from other PPC sites besides adwords. Like mentioned above, you can still use adwords, but expect the time it takes to create a single campaign to be much longer. Try bidvertisers.com you wont receive as much traffic, but you will get away with the single page site. Hope that helps! :-)

Sounds very over simplified, it gets much more complicating when do you do..

Some things you need to worry/think about with Google:
You need a have a full built out quality site
You need to select good keywords
You need to have good ads

The best way is to look and observe what you're competitors are doing is using adwords if none is using adwords then you can be sure google does not like that niche/product. Clickbank hypey sales letters with multiple pop ups and auto-play videos are a definate no-no. But remember adwords is not for sending to wikipedia pages but for businesses that need to sell products or generate leads.
Just use common sense and adhere to good business practice.

AdWords is actually very easy to use provided you simply read (and understand) the TOS before diving in. You could always hire someone who knows what they are doing to get your site/pages setup

They are very unforgiving of mistakes. They expect you to behave professionally. Fail to do so (even unintentionally), and your account will be toast.

well am developing a apparel domain. its a .com and generic. all extensions are taken. i have received offer of $35,000 for the name, but i want to develop as it gets about 10-12k type ins a month. i am planning to put in affiliate ads from online retail like amazon, northface, overstock etc...

question is i will not be selling rather be an affiliate, can i promote it using google ads as an addition to get more traffic? will it comply with google TOS?

Hahaha... Yes, Kenster is right. Setting up a campaign is super easy, the tough part is to make it profitable. And there is one more thing... Adwords has some pretty hard rules now, so you need to build more complex sites with real content and lead capturing pages to avoid the slap.

Honestly, if you're new to PPC, start with FB or PoF, but avoid search and content network with AdWords or Microsoft AdCenter. Go with social PPC, run simple offers like dating and gaming sites and you will do ok.

Take a look on this thread I posted a few weeks ago, it may help you get started the easy way:

I had 5-7 different landing pages making money with Adwords. Woke up one morning and they were all shut down.
