Simple steps to succeed:
1. Find a product to promote
2. Scout the market and competition
3. Make a simple blog/site and populate with posts and articles BEFORE using Awords
4. Keyword research. See which Keywords are naturally bringing traffic to your site.
5. Compile a list of those keywords and related key words
6. Set up adwords account and, link to your site.
7. For more targeted traffic link certain keywords to articles directly.
8. See results and eliminate keywords not performing.
9. Repeat with other offers
10. Sell site for a huge paycheck

I use these steps repeately and get an interesting result. My most recent conquest was promoting an Ipad 2 cpa offer ONLY because I wanted to test the validity of my method.
I started with a fiverr gig and got a $108 dollar adwords credit. I bought a general domain name something like freeoffers.com ( not actual name ).

I began by making post every 4 hours for a week. I averaged 200 uniques a day around the third day in. The post were very general about specs and new updates etc.
After the week I started with my adwords code from fiverr. The keywords I used were things like Ipad free, Ipad 2 test, Ipad 2 surveys, Ipad 2 cheap. I got a huge amount of traffic for roughly .20 cents a click for high competition keywords.

The interesting results are what happened after the adwords account ran out. My page kept increasing in views without me having to post more. I averaged 20 dollars a day for a month after only spending an initial 20 to get started.

My sites always have a life of a few months and that's just because I stop posting. As long as you offer some value and not just the usual " Get this free " or " Get a free trial here" Google wont bother you.

Don't take it too lightly. ppc takes alot of thought and research into a market before you start driving traffic. Make sure you are prepared to try different methods and not limit yourself to just links in articles. Using articles and banners also has a similar result

But you didn't mention how you link your offer to the page ? do you link the offer as a banner or inside the articles ?

Very simple, however I just want to stress - if you are doing adwords, you need to have a really built out site, you need to make sure it's not just a single jump/lander, it needs lots of content and pages

Link the offer inside the articles. This includes text links and banners. Direct linking would be linking directly to the cpa landing page and Google is not a fan of this at all.
