Need Help With a Splash Image

I have just started trying CPA having done well with microniche sites over the last couple of years, but it seems I need some advice.

I am currently buying traffic which is pretty cheap. My page shows up to people before they get to what they were looking for. This is admittedly untargeted traffic.

I am sending them through to a 'splash image' with a simply 'click to win a free ipad2' message which sends them to a maxbounty email submit ipad2 competition.

Per 1,000 views I am getting about 20 click throughs - having improved from 10 clicks as I tweaked my image. The problem is that they are not converting. Now I am supposing that I am not prepping them enough to enter their email address, and I am confident that I can get more clicks (more tweaking).

What I am looking for though is some advice. Is there anything that can guide me on the creation of images for this, and any tips or examples you might have that convert (I know examples may be asking a bit much, but don't ask, don't get).

This could be an issue with the traffic, but my suspicion is that the clicks should be converting at better than 0 in 20, so any advice greatly received!

With untargeted traffic your conversion rate can seriously be anything! Usually extrememly low though.

honestly, those iPad zip submit offers are really fickle. You need to split test all of them, across all the networks you're a member of to find the one that *really* converts.

you only have 20 clicks? you're going to need way more traffic than that before you can form an opinion.
