Yes, facebook does work, but like any other traffic source it takes time to master and learn how to convert .. use your demographics and keywords

I personally have not been as successful on Facebook. I use yahoo and bing for my ppc ad campaign and that has been working great for me. Of course I haven't put much energy into facebook ads as I have been using facebook primarily for relationship building and getting likes to my fanpage which too increases traffic to my site and blog.

Facebook is excellent for Branding i Agree with you. If you know the basic of marketing then you can make any ad platform work. It's not like if you put up a campaign of facebook and that's gona make you pile of money. it still takes effort on optimizing the campaigns properly.

FB is not some magic money-making place. But, as soon as you do your homework and learn how to target, find good niches, and customize your fan pages, you'll have no trouble being successful.

It works out very nice if you can target right demographics.
So always take time in researching on the demographics of your ad orelse you could end up on losing side.

Gotta target well and test test test. Also, limit your budget, at the beginning when youre testing. Good luck!

Granted different demographics ar going to give different answers, but if we look at it globally, is there a CPC price ballpark that is a good idea to stay in if you are sending someone to an offer?

Unless you're targeting a super hot niche, it's pretty easy to stay under 10 cents per click. If you target well in a good niche, it's pretty easy to stay at 5 cents per click or less, if you know what you're doing.

Wow, granted I am in a health/weight-loss niche, but I can't even sniff that... We have been working with specific targeting and some of frank kerns guidance and are at about $1 per click which is way higher than I would like to be... pointers??

Keep in mind some targets/intersets are going to simply be more expensive because of the competition. You will have bag companies bidding very high because they have huge budgets and don't know crap about optimization, etc.

At the end of the day your CTR will determine your price, period. I've been saying lately that the .1% standard is yesterday's standard and .15-.2% is really the minimum.

To the OP's question, yes Facebook ads will defnitely convert for CPA offers. Like any traffic source, especially one as large as it is, it is always evolving. You have scores of marketers trying to make money there every day.

As others have said above, you need to do your homework and target appropriately.

Of course there is more to it, the basics have been discussed a ton here. Targeting, dynamic attention-grabbing image, engaging headline/copy, good landing page, etc.

@doctorvagabond, keep in mind that certain niches and markets will be much more expensive depending. That being said, you should be able get cheaper traffic depening on your criteria.

What kind of CTR are you getting on these ads (if you don't mind me asking)?

Thanks,
Danny

Health/Weight Loss would definitely be one of the super-hot niches I was mentioning. Even with that being said, $1 per click should still be way higher than you should be paying. Like Sith asked, if you can provide a general CTR, that might shed some light on part of the issue.

Ouch $1 per click? That is SO expensive. Might as well advertise on Adwords :P

But seriously, the only way to lower your CPC is to get a good CTR I average around 0.2%-0.3%.

Yeah, running a good CTR definitely does help you out on the CPC - but there are definitely other ways too- you can manipulate your targeting, and your destination to really get a good drop in the CPC.
On that note, I'll say if you can make your campaign work while using a fan page as your bridge page or squeeze page, that can make things easy on you since those clicks on your ads aren't leaving facebook (which makes facebook happy of course) and you get the benefit of the social metrics/likes right on your ad.

One thing I have found is that there are simply offers that aren't meant to be run on facebook. There are niches that seem custom made to convert of FB. Know your audience and know the medium you are promoting to them with. Good luck.
