Help newbie with high traffic Travel site

We have built a a huge travel destination website which has multiple Google page 1 listings for multiple keywords. Our "old school" model has been selling advertising to local businesses. We post content regularly and our phones ring off the hook from travellers wanting information on our tourist town. The economy has slowed our cashflow and someone recently suggested monetizing the site with affiliate offers and using Ad networks. This is not our area of expertise. Can anyone give us some direction? We get a lot of traffic and have an email list of thousands that we don't email to. We were also told we could send them offers (not sure how that works). Any suggestions would be awesome.

How about monetize it with CPA offers?

Lot of CPA offers related with travelling niche and only email/zip submit offers. So maybe it'll work well with your traffic

I agree with elexmedia. Try monetizing your traffic with cpa offers.

You can monetize the website with AdSense, but that's probably not what you are looking for.

I would recommend showing your customers some related CPA offers. You can go to offervault.com, put in your keywords that best describe your market and find some relevant offers that you think could be interesting for your customers.

Email/zip submits can work (rotate and test alot of different ones to find the best converting) but are kinda scammy/spammy. If you care about the quality of offer you promote then email/zip submits aren't the way to go - theres really no value to your visitor in them, but they can potentially make you money.

As an alternative you can try something like orbitz (or similar site) affiliate program Affiliate Programs | Orbitz.

There are also time share CPA offers. You can search for them on odigger.com
