Default Whats the cheapest/best place for hosting AND domains?

I have already typed it into google and it seems godaddy is definitely up there as far as cheap goes. $1.99 a month than $9.99 for domain names.

I can't really argue with that but before commiting with them figured I would ask on here what is everyone else using? I'm going to be buying up lots of domains for my CPA offers so I'm not sure if there are cheaper/better places out there.

Thanks guys!

edit: Ok realized I maybe should have been a bit more specific than that. I see most people seem to use either godaddy, namecheap.com, or 1&1. But that was a different forum and I just want to see what most you warriors are using for your CPA offers and what not.

Yeh I love godaddy and use to use them a while ago untill I wound up sharing hosting with my brother at hostmonster. Then I just realized a lot of people don't use hostmonster nor are they really that well priced. Plus I just got into CPA a couple months back and have several landing pages I need to get up and several more in the works.

I'm back to looking at godaddy but they charge $9.99 a domain. I'm going to be getting a lot of domains over the next 6 months and figured maybe namecheap.com would be better. They charge $2.99 a domain than $2.95 for the monthly hosting.

Compared to godaddy thats just farrrr far cheaper. So is anyone using namecheap.com? Any problems with them?

Ok this is bs so I go to commit to namecheap.com and now they're saying their domains are $9.99. This is total utter bs if they are advertising $2.99 right on their site then when you go to buy it the price changes to $9.99!

Anyone using namecheap? They look like rip off artists.

Yeh I'm already seeing that lol. I almost feel bad for this place as I'm trying to register a new account and the site seems so lagged with traffic it keeps timing out the connection. No idea whats causing it but I've tried registering 3 times for a new account and their processors are just not working right.

Think I will take that as a sign to avoid big names like my brother told me to do. He said the more popular places will often be less but the second something goes wrong you're basically on your own as far as support goes. He told me to use hostmonster because they're support is great and although they're a bit more expensive that its definitely worth it.

Not a big deal I got the money so might as well stop being so frugal over this I'm sure it'll come back to bite me in the ass.

Namecheap.com you just lost yourself a customer if your site sucks this bad just to register an account I can't imagine how the service is.

I wouldn't be looking for the cheapest in hosting because you get what you pay for. It would suck if your hosting went out because their servers are not up to par. I've been with Hostgator for over a year and I must say, i've never had any problems that they couldn't fix quick.

As for domains, I buy all my domains through 1and1.com.. Right now, their .com are 4.99 and .info are .99 (for the first year and then they are like 9.99 after that). Back in October, they were selling .com names for only 1 buck.. I went crazy buying domains.. LOL..

Hope this helps

When you are looking for hosting you don't need the cheapest one. You are looking for reliable, responsive and friendly company for reasonable price.
You don't host sites because this is cheap, you host them to be available all the time!

Cheap domains is another story. Use coupons to get discount

www.ixwebhosting.com has cheap hosting plans (look for the secret link at the bottom of the page for a 20% discount), but it's not great...

IMO, one of the best hosting companies among the cheap ones is Bluehost, so you may want to take a look on their plans, too.

Regarding domains, I'm a big fan of NameCheap, but I think GoDaddy is cheaper than them.

GoDaddy has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. If your site ever goes down or you have a problem on the hosting end, expect to be on the phone for hours waiting or never hear back via email. They also backed SOPA and for anyone who cares about internet marketing, SOPA is bad news. (I believe the latest is that they backed down because so many people left their service after hearing about their support of something truly vile.)

I suggest bluehost (awesome support) or ixwebhosting as mentioned above. In the long run, the extra few bucks is money well spent. Especially when things go wrong.

Thanks guys I wound up going with hostgator. I wound up noticing most of these places try to make you commit for a year or 2 and the only place offering monthly contracts (that I found) was hostgator.

It was $15 to register the domain which is $5 more than other places and hosting was $10 for a month (which is also expensive) but this way I can test the service and if its not good enough I'll try another place after a month.

So far everything is going great so I will likely wind up commiting for a longer service.
Thanks again!

I'm not a godaddy fan myself, also do you really need hosting and domains from the same place?

For shared hosting - hostgator is ok.. for the price it seems reasonable compared to the rest.. as for domain registrations I just look for the cheapest place

Not sure if someone already said it, but hostgator is pretty good you can host an unlimited number of domains for under $11 per month....as far as domain names I prefer godaddy because its an easy transition to move domains around plus good customer service anytime and you cant beat that!!

Godaddy = sucks. Worst customer service on the planet. If you dont think customer service is the number one important thing, you must be a newbie.

IMO anyone choosing Godaddy must be a newbie

Buying Domains= NAMECHEAP...........ask around they are the most popular among webmasters, They do not screw with their customers or try to steal their domains, like Godaddy does

Hosting? HOstgator. or Cyberwurx(I prefer cyberwurx) their customer service is second to none. I pay 6 bucks a month for a shared plan though this is not fast enough for CPA.

Hosting is always a thing to think about and do a bunch of researches to find the right for you, I host my domains with godaddy but the only thing why i host with them is when i use those coupons that drop my price to 2 bucs for the first year. One of my good friends just hooked me with his hosting, and its pretty damn good.

It's called Dreamhost and the website is dreamhost(dot)com

As a domain registrar I use Namecheap. It's great, last time I checked it was cheaper than Godaddy (which was about a year ago, though

For hosting I simply use Hostgator. The business plan is only $15/month for unlimited domains and bandwidth with a discount for the month you pay and if you pay in advance then the discount applies to the entire time period you've paid for!

When registering domains, its important to note that the official .com price for a domain is:

US$7.34 to Verisign +
US$0.18 to ICANN =

$7.52 total per domain.

The companies that are selling domains for less than that are making money somewhere else off of you. Often times, those "Free" Domains are not in your name, and never will be, so if you develop on them for 10 years, using their hosting and services and paying them, then if you want to transfer you have to pay them to buy the domain. What happens if you get a free domain and build it into the next Facebook, and then you try and buy your $million domain and transfer it? Do you really think they are gonna let it go for a small transfer fee at that point?

If you are just looking for a cheap domain to throw up a landing page and point to your sales page, then Free domains and cheap hosting are a great way to go (you can get a different IP for your new domain, ranking you higher etc). UglyHost is my personal example of that, where I have purchased several hundred keyword oriented domains and offer 5 of them to use for free with any hosting account. You don't get to keep the domains, but you get the benefit of selling off them or developing on them as long as you'd like.

However, if its a domain you plan on developing and want to keep, make sure you buy it through an accredited registrar that doesn't try and rape you 5 years latter. 7 Years ago I registered nochek.com and used it for a bit before I realized I wanted to switch hosting to another service. It was then held for ransom when I tried to transfer it, and is now available for $900 on moniker.com because I wouldn't pay the $2500 for it when I wanted it 7 years ago. Since then I have had to turn my nickname into a company, and am in the process of Trademarking it, all so I can get my domain back that was stolen from me, because I fell for a $4 registration fee.

I like HostGator myself as well. They may be a dollar or two higher than others, but myself I have had no problems and anytime I had a question, they answered it quickly and helped me through the question. You do have to do your own research and go with what you are comfortable with. I wish you the best.

Wow this is very eye opening stuff. I've been searching for hosting for a few days now and I've seen several providers which offer free domains, like IX provides 3 free domains, which I thought sounds like a great deal.

Often I've seen many hosting providers that offer free domains don't have terms and conditions shown, or if they are they're very hard to find. I'm guessing this is probably why, because there's a hidden condition in there somewhere saying you don't actually own the domain!

I think this is why many people recommend always buying your domains from a different provider to your hosting, keeps things safer in the long run. Might cost a bit more, but a few dollars up front are nothing compared to the hassle, problems and lost revenue down the track.

I believe I have said it on here before, but I personally use SpiritDomains. Their support is top-notch, best in the industry. Hands down. If I have any issue whatsoever, I can call or email and its fixed in an hour. Their domains are $8.95, which is only $1.43 overhead for them. After purchasing ~600 domains through them over the years, I am confident in recommending them to anyone (until I can raise the $150k for my own registrar, keep an eye out for 2013!). And they don't even blink an eye when I buy domains like ****html.com and googlescraper.com, or when I need help transferring an adult site to one of my customers accounts (and man, they pick some nasty names). They have even refunded me several hundred dollars on a bad bulk-batch buy (sometimes you forget to end an elseif statement and all of a sudden you have 40 domains about toe fungus)

Again, it may not be free, but its dependable, and they are my domain names, and considering how many thousands of dollars each one will be worth, I can't afford to trust some 'FR33 DOMAINS AND HOSTING!!1!' site to monitor and control all my servers, data, income streams, and have full control over my domains as well.

No experience with them. It's best to stick to well-known web hosting companies IMO!

Domain:
NameCheap
They're the best in my opinion, PERIOD. You can get a .info domain for $2.99 including the Whois Guard, all your information secured from public.

Hosting:
HostGator
The best webhosting company, PERIOD. Awesome costumer support. You can get the "Baby Plan" Hosting for only 1 CENT the first month, then you pay around $7-$9. You can host all your websites there. Costs for setting the website up: $3. Good luck!

That 2.99 is not bad for .info on namecheap I might try that, I am sure its only for the first year but, it can add up, you surely can scale up to making money in 12 months, and renew

REMEMBER WITH NAMECHEAP
to search on google for namecheap coupons
I save about 90c per domain using those, I know its not a lot but I feel better when it shows me the new discount price after entering the coupon code

I hadn't heard of them before, checked out the site and it seems pretty impressive. $8.95 .com's and free privacy protection is awesome! If they're as good as you say then I think they're a better option than Namecheap for me!

If you want to get some opinions on any hosting company check out:

Web Hosting Talk - The largest, most influential web hosting community on the Internet

You can also often find discounts or special offers on that site. When I signed up for my hosting account with LiquidWeb (who I've been VERY happy with) I got a good deal because of a special offer they were running on WebHostingTalk.

Thanks for that link, I had a look around and its a great forum, lots of information on hosting and many providers I haven't heard of before. Will definitely spend some time going through the site.

Appreciate your help, it seems this combination is favoured by many Warriors. Currently I think this is probably the way I'm going to go, but I'll take a look through Web Hosting Talk to see what else is out there.

Lemme write detailed description here which will help others.

Why i go for namecheap than hostgator
1.Namecheap gives whois guard for free in first year.I'm tired of upselling of godday.

Why i go for bluehost or hostgator. And Why now i host my sites in hostgator

1.If you buy hostgator u can upgrate it to a shared to VPS in future. But Bluehost having shared only.So if you are looking to expand in future go for hostgator

2.Why i dont go for cheap hosting.

Most of them are re sellers of above 2 companies.Since i wanted a different ip i bought
a small plan from a local provider here for 8$ year ..yes thats cheap. But problem is your site looses privacy.Later i found out this bugger has stolen some of my niches as well as plugins etc.Its funny but its the reality.

Above all are my real life experiences.

Thanks for the update and PM to let me know. I was actually wondering about the cheap "no name" hosting providers and how safe your data would actually be with them.

How did you discover that the cheap host was stealing your niches and plugins? Did you find competing sites or through copyscape?

I took a look at them, they seem to be quite cost effective for VPS. I ended up going with Hostgator for now, but when my sites outgrow shared hosting, I'll seriously consider these guys.

Are their servers located in India too or just the company is based there? I've experienced accessing Indian website to be really slow from Australia at times, I wonder if this would be a problem with these guys?

if you are going to have a ton of domains then i would definitely register them with GoDaddy. they are the cheapest. .com is only $7.49 for unlimited registrations every single day. you can use coupon code zine10. if for some reason that coupon eventually stops working there are always new ones that make it that same price. they also frequently have coupon codes for $1 and also have $5.99 and less coupon codes right now that are good for one domain registration.

Namecheap and Hostgator shared hosting is the cheapest quality solution. You can also try Yahoo domain which will cost you only $1.99 per domain for the first year.

Have been with godaddy for a while, but got several problems with them.
So i moved to namecheap.com, not the cheapest but i've never had problems.
For hosting i've been successfully using webhostgiant for over 2 years!
