Hey guys, I've finally ran my first campaign in Facebook promoting a gift card CPA offer. I had one of those html app where I uploaded a customed image promoting about the offer (something like Click on the picture to deem your $500 gift card) after the fans 'Like' the fanpage. I ran 3 different ads (same promotional text and offer, only different image) to test things out and I went to bed. Today when I woke up I went to check and I was disappointed at the result. Here are the overall stats: Campaign reach: 4032, Frequency: 11.2, Social Reach: 31, Connections: 6, Clicks 10, CTR: 0.022%, Spent: $6.15 Ad 1: Reach 2632, Freq: 6.2, Social Reach: 19, Connection: 1, Clicks: 3, CTR: 0.018% Ad 2: Reach 2665, Freq: 5.7, Social Reach: 16, Connection: 3, Clicks: 4, CTR: 0.026% Ad 3: Reach 2447, Freq: 5.5, Social Reach: 16, Connection: 2, Clicks: 3, CTR: 0.022% Sorry for the texts, I'm still new in the forum so I guess I won't be having enough post to display any pictures. Basically as you can see, USD$6.15 for 10 clicks? You've gotta be kidding me, this is disheartening. I plan to pause the other 2 ads and let the 2nd one continue running for a little bit more. What do you guys think? I could really use some advice here. Thanks guys! |

In my opinion, the only way to get cheap click on FB Ads, is using CPM, cost per thousand impression, (example: you pay $1 for every 1000 impressions of your ads) It's risky but if you do it right, it can give you very low cpc. NOTE: Only use CPM is you're sure your Ads get high CTR. Otherwise, FB will rob you. (0. Your biggest effort is to get High CTR of your FB Ads) 1. To get High CTR, first you must use funny pictures/ distracting pictures/ any pics that's easily get people attention that related with your CPA offer. 2. Use text ads in question sentence. 3. Don't bid for PPM at the beginning, just use PPC. 4. After you sure your ads get high CTR, like: 0.7% above 5. Change your bid to CPM 6. Test, Test, Test 7. Always learn new methods to get High CTR With this you can get a low CPC. NOTE: currently, I rarely use FB ads to promote CPA anymore. I prefer to use POF Ads and promote dating offers. |

Hi elexmedia, thanks for the feedback! I'm using CPM currently so that might be the problem Facebook is robbing me indeed I guess? Really appreciate your advise! I will switch it to CPC now and re-switch back to CPM if it manages to hit 0.7%+ of CTR.

Your CTR is very bad. Try testing different text and also make you sure that you are targeting correct people. | |

I did some researches and I actually had my targeted audience narrowed down, which gave me quite a surprise because of the bad CTR rate since I was sure I targeted the correct target audience. I will let it run for one more day and hopefully the CTR rate will be better. Will report more updates.

Hey there, so definitely seeing low CTR here, and that's how you get high CPC. At the end of the day, the only secret to getting low CPC on Facebook is getting a high CTR. That's goal number one, after you reach that, you have to work on getting your conversion rate up. Back to your question/post...it's hard to say what's wrong or right without seeing the ads, texts, etc. I'm not asking you to reveal anything, just saying you won't get laser-targeted advice. That being said, here are some guidelines: 1. Targeting - make sure you are targeting correctly. Utilize age, geography and INTERESTS. 2. Ad Image - This is one of THE most important things. The more your ad stands out (but is still relvant) the better your chances of higher CTR. 3. Ad Text - Don't write a book, keep it to the point and include a CTA. I will also say 3 images isn't enough in many cases. I've had a lot of situations where I get images set up that I'm SURE are going to kill it based on my experience, etc, only to find that they tank, and I'm getting .2-.3% CTR on one of the ones I didn't pay a lot of attention to. With regard to CPM vs CPC, it is absolutely possible to get cheap clicks with CPC, although it is correct CPM is the way to get sub-penny clicks. That being said, I typically limit CPM campaigns to certain overseas regions and very high CTR situation when linking to a non Facebook page. Just what I typically do FWIW. I hope this helps. Danny |
