Hi. I'm a copywriter, and recently my plan was to write ads for businesses on Facebook. However, now I'm wondering if that might be a really hard market to make any money from. I started to think "Hey, why don't I just craft the ads for myself and send them to affiliate/cpa offers"? The problem with this of course is that it takes money to test things out, etc, and payout is delayed. However, I'm interested and I'm wondering about a few things. One is, what's considered to be a decent rate of conversion from ad impressions to actual clicks? Also, how do you go about assessing the competition for your niche? After all, if people keep on seeing a ton of ads for similar things, they're not very likely to click on yours, even if they read some great copy. Where's a good, legal place to get pictures for the ads without spending a bunch of money? Finally, if I remember right, FB unfortunately doesn't allow you to link to affiliate sites from an ad (for that matter, can you link to an actual sales page?). How do you all go about getting around this? I seem to remember people saying they just buy a domain and do a redirect. Otherwise, I suppose I could copy the code over from the affiliate site, but I have no experience with that. Anyways, thanks for your answers in advance. |

Just curious why you are choosing to write facebook ads rather than pursue writing as social media expert/specialist? I've seen a growing demand for it. The way I look at it, consumer to consumer advertising is more persuasive than business to consumer advertising. This is the real strength of social media, not formal ad space. A good writer can be persuasive enough to help B2C advertising to become C2C advertising through targeted, up-to-date, relevant social media. |

Hello Nathan, I like your idea about selling a service to write ad copies, But first you need to test it by yourself to see if your ad copies will have a good CTR or not. Anything that will cover your investment with some or good ROI should consider decent in my opinion. As for the images, there is a lot of free places and stocks there you can download images free and legal. I am not going to name them here, Just google free stock images and you will find them. When it comes to competition "easy part", Just try not to do as what about 99% of affiliates do. "Do not copy". Learn and then take your very own path to success. Yes, you still can promote CPA offers on FB. You need to know how things work. If you search this forum you will also find very good information posted many times. Naveen K and William have great posts about this matter. Try to find them. Hope that helps. |

Why don't you use your current expertise as Copywriter? You could promote your service through "Warriors for Hire" section ($20), and get the money directly to Paypal. I think it's easier than you need to learn a new thing about FB Ads+CPA

Yes, Try not to copy someone else campaign or ad copy. Because what works and converts for me not necessary to give same result for you. Testing is the key.

True. Also, I still can't believe how many ads I see on Facebook that literally list the company's name as a headline!

Facebook has some of the worst ads I've ever seen. But hey that means more money for the people how actually understand what they're doing. I personally wouldn't start to sell ad copies for companies until I understand what demographic that company most caters to and what appeals to that demographic. You don't want to sell ads that only get a .03 CTR because you won't be selling those for very much time. |

Good point. I've been thinking in terms of trying to avoid poor-performing ads, but demographics is another thing to consider. It may be too much to try to learn every time around, just to make a little each time by writing an ad.
