Hi there... I've been building up to this for a little while and finally took the plunge.

I got in with Max Bounty and Peerfly.
NOW I have a few question.. maybe more than that. I searched on the forums here and there were vague references but no real definitive answers.

Thanks in advance.

1) Landing pages... What do they do other than be another affiliate product page? I have affiliate links on my site now, but they are not considered landing pages. Why are we not allowed to just use a direct link that is encrypted for our account? Similar to the way CJ and others work?

2) Cloaking pages... again what's the point? If you HAVE to send the customer to your site why be bogus about the URL? Why is it advantageous to cloak a landing page in Google's eyes? And is that only an issue with Google and not Bing & Yahoo?

(does that count as the second question or do I now move onto #6?) oops did it again..

7) Is there any way around not having a landing page, but direct linking using your affiliate ID? I am certainly NOT keen on landing pages. Too much bounce rate. I feel that if someone likes the banner and clicks on it, it should take them to the product (seems fairly simple).

ohhh 8) anyone willing to share what a landing page should look like so I can get an idea of it?

You can direct link to some offers. Landing pages are meant to presell or build a list.

Google has insane rules and doesn't like a lot of affiliate offers. So to get around that you cloak it. MSN Adcenter is not that crazy yet and Yahoo now requires $5,000 a month minimum spend to even use their system.

Yes you can do that, but don't expect much. Direct linking works in some cases, nobody is stopping you.

Dang... not newbi priced....

When I signed up with Max Bounty, they asked me what my methods were:
e-mail : no direct links
Forums: no direct links *
Adwords: no direct links *
Social media: no direct links *

I don't have much hair left to pull out. I can't for the life of me see why slapping a banner on something and getting the sale should be so difficult.

* those last 3 I should be killer at.

I can't see spending the $$ on adwords and sending someone to MY site and then have them click AGAIN to go to the company site and sign up. It just doesn't make for rational thought. That is a double hop. A single is difficult enough :/
