What should newbies do to prepare to apply?

Do they want example sites (your domain and host, with landing pages already made?)
any other general preparation advice is appreciated

One small thing that will help you get applied is to use an email address connected to your website when applying. Example: apply with yourname@yourdomain.com instead of yourname@gmail.com

You do not need a website. Gmail works.

However, an email connected to your domain works better.

Last year my friend signed up to 50+ networks and was accepted into 95% with a gmail account and using a random website he found. He also lives in the US.. So you being in the Philippines could effect approval and using a gmail.

If you really want.. buy a domain, throw up a landing page and say thats just one of the landing pages you use to convert offers.

You can use roboform (or there is another similar/better one for free forgot the name) to autofill dozens of CPA networks to automate that more.

Another tip is that when they call you and ask you what kind of marketing techniques you know, try to NOT sound like a newbie.

Tell them that you have several methods to bring traffic to the site, seo, facebook, ppc, ppv etc.

You don't need a lot of preparation, in fact.

I think the most important thing when applying to a CPA network is to know what you will be doing. Show them that you're serious, have a strategy and traffic source define and make it clear that you won't be using their network as a testing lab. If you do it and call (or reach them on AIM) right after submitting the application, most companies will accept you.
