Hi Guys, I tried out a new FB ad promoting an Internet Dating eBook which was initially approved and then rejected after 20 clicks on the ad. The email said that the content did not accurately reflect the landing page which was odd because it could not have been clearer. One thing I did notice when re-reading the Guidelines is that "Dating" adverts had to be targeted to those people who had "Single" as their relationship status only. I did not do that but it does not appear to be the reason why it was rejected. I have resubmitted my ad with the content changed and the above parameter corrected. Is there anything else I could have missed? Just not clear why it was first accepted and then rejected with no changes. I would be grateful for any input. Di |

Hey Diana, Yes... If it has to do with dating then you need to be more specific... Like one campaign (men seeking female single) and another separate one female seeking male single) Keep in mind that with facebook, sometimes you have to keep tweaking and tweaking until you get approved. sometimes just a picture change will approve your ad. Is what they call the "facebook intern curse" |

Same Happened with me too. I was promoting my fan page. I just changed my image and they were fine.

if you are a good advertiser in facebook, your ads approve quickly and some times not looking your landing page. after the approval they will check your landing page and your url. |

I've seen this before, I just think it's typically something where they approve and then an approver stumbles on it again and re-evaluates it, by the sounds of it you should be good after you made that correct, let us know!

There are few different factors, as other said they may come back and double check but its not always the case. If the user make complaint against your ads, they have the right to disapprove your ads any time. There are 101 rules which changes every day Lol

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. I am still waiting for the ad to be approved. It's definately taking longer than normal to be approved. Di |

I believe it also depends on the person who reviews the ad. I got a lot of good researched ads denied and a lot of "spam" ads approved lol. |

You should be fine after the changes you made. If Facebook doesn't stop with this type of crap people are going to stop advertising with them. I doubt they really care but they should.

Well I don't know what to do anymore. The ad was approved again and then within 10 seconds, rejected again. I am so frustrated because I have no idea what the problem is and you can never get hold of a human being at Facebook to get an answer. |

Hi Diana, You are not alone. All great comments in here!! I recently did a New Years Resolution campaign for my fitness company - the first week of January. I experienced the same things - mostly wholesale disapproval for what seemed to be incorrect reasons AND approval then disapproval after some clicks were received on 2 other ads. I am a stubborn, detailed person so I read through their terms and conditions and advertising guidelines 3 times. I was very upset - I looked at all the examples, etc. I definitely experienced uneven application of "the rules" by different ad reviewers. There is interpretation required by the individual ad reviewers. Then, possibly a supervisor catches an ad that should not have approved, maybe it hits a cue after initial clicks. So, they may have a multiple approval system. Since it's proprietary we may never know. (Hmmmmm -maybe we can push for "more transparency - when they go public). I found them very picky with images and copy too - for example some facial expressions they considered "manipulative" - but they determine which ones. In my promotion, I had an image of a woman on a scale looking "disappointed" with her weight. The image was rejected - I guess because they thought it was manipulative. Making someone feel uneasy about their weight... I mean come on!! it's a weight loss promotion for crying out loud. Talk about treating your users like children who can't fend for themselves... Oh, btw, my ads were set for age 21 and up. No minors. But here's the real kicker, the big dating sites are displaying ads to me of "buxom women" in skin tight, form-fitted-to-the-max tops. I think that is highly manipulative. Yet those ads get approved. There are obviously big bucks behind those ads. IMPORTANT: My observation (and a real pain) is that if you are advertising an FB page - all the usual rules are amped up big time - to protect their brand. Think about it... If you go off half-cocked on your own landing page on your own site - that's your brand at risk. With the FB pages, it's a different ballgame and they tighten up even more. Also another big problem I encountered (you will or have already), is that FB tries to pigeon hole you into using your official "FB page name" as the advertisement Title. That means you can't change the Title of your ad for split testing. How screwed up is that? (Uh...... very.). The work around is to select the "External URL" option when setting up your ad. Then paste your "FB page URL" or "App URL" into the External URL field and setup the rest of your ad. I was able to get several ads approved this way - but when copying the same ad and tweaking one word (insignificant to the judgement on the ad) and the ad was disapproved. Wow... again, seems like uneven application of the same FB advertising rule set by different reviewers. The workaround sets up a potential conflict with FB - you are using an internal FB page URL in the external URL ad field during ad setup. This appears to be a loophole that they have yet to close.. I'm sure they can see this happening when ads get reviewed. The fix would be for FB to let you create your own darn title for an advertisement of your FB page. Once again, very controlling on their part. My observation has been that they are not traditional "direct marketing" friendly for small business advertisers in certain niches (weight loss, etc.). You will have to adjust things to suit them and it can take a lot of trial and error if you lack a breadth of experience with their platform and their subjective guidelines. I'll use them when I need to but I don't enjoy trying to get ads approved for FB pages. They were very disappointing for my weight loss fitness promotion. They were fighting me the whole way. That is not the kind of experience I want to have when I am throwing good money into a campaign. Has anybody else experienced anything like I have described? Or any other peculiar things? |

Sometimes its frustrating when ads don't get approved quickly. My campaigns are running on $500 per day each (not related to internet marketing) but still it takes 2 to 3 submissions to finally get approved. you can try changing images, headlines and they don't like ugly looking affiliate/tracking links.

Might be before Approving your ad they were in Sleepy mode and when their boss saw that Ad He just threw a file on the employee and *BOOM* Employee waked up and Disapproved because the File Bang opened his brain and He finally knew that AD was breaking the Guideline ? Or Might be someone reported your ad (Quite Common) Regards ~Sam~ |
