Default Does Prosper 202 Help Track Non-PPC Campaigns?

Does anyone know if Prosper 202 helps with non-PPC campaigns? For example, will it allow me to track conversions from my website to the network offer?

Being super-specific, I have a product review site. I'm seeing conversions in CJ, but the payout is far lower than it should be. When I asked my AM why my commission was lower than what it should be, he said that some of the customers I'm sent over must have come through one of their media buy campaigns AFTER they clicked on my link and thus they couldn't give me a full commission, so they gave a partial commission.

CJ time stamps the sale and the users IP address. I'd love to be able to track that data on my end so I can counter my AM and say, "No, here's proof that the visitor came through my link 2 minutes before completing the sale. I should get the FULL commission."

If Prosper 202 is not the right tool for this job, I'm of course open to other pixel tracking software that can do the above.

Any suggestions and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I use it to track my banner ad campaigns. I make some blank text ad just to have it available when I create the link. I just substitute the keyword variable for something that will let me track which of my banners creatives is being clicked.

Working pretty well so far

ABSOLUTELY

Use it for any link you want to track clicks on! Remember to at least create SUB-IDs for different uses....

Often, What I do, is create a Text Ad in the setup for each place I'm putting a link (even when there is no text ad- Just use the text ads to keep track of whats what) then get the link code for each of those "text ads"

Id be glad to help you out if you would like to reach out to me.

As stated already, yes you can do that.

But my concern would be this merchant who appears to be doing something fishy.

How long is their cookie? 60 seconds?

I agree. IMO, what they told you makes no sense. You sent the visitor, the cookie was set and you should get the full commission until the cookie expires (which is usually 15, 30 or 60 days).

What they said about people coming from their media buys campaign is ridiculous.

I couldn't agree more! I've never heard of anything so ludicrous! They've got a 120 day cookie and it's a MAJOR player in the niche I play in (Wall Street Journal brand). I do a lot of volume with them too.

As far as I'm concerned, and I've made this clear to my AM there, if the visitor clicks on my link and signs up within that 120 day window, I should get the full commission, not a freaking partial commission.

I'm signing up with Prosper202 ASAP.

Thanks everyone.

Default Re: Does Prosper 202 Help Track Non-PPC Campaigns?

Hello all,

I have just downloaded Prosper and set it up on a domain, but I have many questions regarding the tracking. As of now I am mainly using it for direct linking with CPV campaigns. I'm super confused on the parameters part and I was hoping someone here could help me.

1) If I place the Prosper202 post back pixel with the affiliate network, do I still need to use the parameters that traffic sources like AdOn or LeadImpact supply for keyword/url tracking?

2) If I do use the parameters, I think that I am supposed to add them to the tracking url on step #7, correct? It's pretty confusing as to where in the tracking url the variables should be placed.

There are a few areas where you can enter variables (tracking id c1, c2, etc...). When I enter the variables into those spaces, the variables are then automatically added into the tracking url for me, and it looks something like this:

www dot com/tracking202/redirect/dl.php?t202id=8107&c1=SEARCHTEXT&c2=PARTNERID&t202 kw=

HOWEVER in most of the threads that I've been reading, everyone is saying that the varibles are supposed to go AT THE END of the tracking url, like this...

www dot com /tracking202/redirect/dl.php?t202id=1114&t202kw=SEARCHTEXT

I'm super confused, and the lack of detailed info from Prosper doesn't help much. Their videos are all based on an older version of Prosper. If there is anyone that can provide any insight on this? thx

Hi JBro, hopefully I can help clear a few things up.

1) As for placing the tracking pixel for Prosper202 vs. adding tracking parameters, I would suggest you do both. They just collect different types of data into Prosper.

The tracking pixel will tell you which clicks are converting. You'll be able to see them as "$" signs in your "visitors" tab. It also adds the conversion data to pretty much every other stat that you can view in Prosper202. Without conversion data, the rest of the info won't be very useful to you.

2) The parameters will give you more detailed information about each click that comes in from the ad network. Again, looking under the "visitors" tab, mouse over the little icons that look like "play" buttons. You should see a URL displayed next to your cursor, with something like "&c1=XXXXXXX&c2=XXXXXXX&kw=XXXXXXX"

This is showing you the values for each parameter on that click. So taking your example, it would show you the exact SEARCHTEXT and PARTNERID for each click.

As for where you want to place them, always place the main variable you want to track in at the end, after the "&kw=" For most search PPC campaigns, this will be the keyword variable. If you're in Adwords, and you enter "{keyword}" into this space, it will be replaced with the search terms that the user entered that displayed your ad.

If your doing banner ads, it will probably be a static code you create, so you know which of your banner creatives are getting clicked. You might create two 120x600 banners, for example. You could track them by adding "120X600A" and "120X600B" after the "&kw=" to see which clicks come from which ads.

The "kw" value is the main thing you'll see broken down under the "Analyse" tab reports. So in the Adwords example, you'll see data for your keywords. On the banner campaign, you'll see the data for the banner codes you created. If you're doing POF, you might want age as the main variable, and so on.

The "c1, c2, etc." are secondary data. They can be broken down in the "Group Overview" sub-tab of the "Overview" tab.

You can also pass them on to the reports in your affiliate network in step 3 of the "Setup" tab. You would need to set it up like &s1=[[c1]]&s2=[[c2]]&s3=[ [kw]] or however your network handles multiple subids. You probably won't need to do this part unless you have a specific reason to do so. If you set up your links like I explained above, you should be getting all the data you need right inside Prosper202.
