Default First Thing Every CPA Marketer Should Do Before Promoting A Campaign...

Test to see when the pixel fires.

To be more direct, fill out the offer yourself to see when you receive credit for the lead.

Let your rep know what you are doing if you are afraid of being banned for it. If they don't want to allow it, move to another campaign. There is no need to waste time, effort and money promoting a campaign that doesn't convert.

Some CPA networks have a test mode that will allow you to do this easier.

Why is this important?
I've encountered SO many campaigns that supposedly convert on the first page that never convert or really convert on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th page etc.

When I started doing this, my success rate with CPA skyrocketed. I wasted a lot of time getting frustrated promoting offers that didn't convert when they were suppose to.... There are lots of shady people out there, be careful.

Interesting. However, wouldn't the CR data of the offer which your CPA network supplies be a strong indicator of whether it converts on the 1st page or not. For example an offer with a CR of 7.83% which says converts on 1st page, probably does.

You would be surprised..
Keep in mind also, cr data can be misleading.

An affiliate that's using a landing page prior to the offer page will show a higher CR than someone who is direct linking (most of the time).

Example:
Affiliate 1 has a landing page. He is generating 1000 clicks. His landing page has a Click Through rate of 20%. So 200 clicks make it to the offer page. Out of those 200 clicks, 10% convert. So we have 20 leads out of 1000 clicks.

Affiliate 2 is direct linking. She generates 1000 clicks. In a perfect world, 1000 of those clicks hit the offer page. Only 3% convert. She has generated 30 leads.

If most affiliates on the network are using landing pages like affiliate 1, then the conversion rate is around 10%. AWESOME right?

Not necessarily. Affiliate 2 is making more money with a lower conversion rate according to the CPA network.

Why waste time researching demographics for a campaign when the pixel doesn't fire when it's suppose to? You've just wasted time.

Stop placing 100% trust in the CPA networks. Usually it's not their fault when the pixel doesn't fire. Most of the time the advertiser is screwing around with stuff in order to turn a profit.

If you are promoting rebills, or some mobile offers....well, you probably don't want to give your information. lol You can however create a lander that is similar and see what your signup rate is and compare the two.
