The key metric for ranking offer performance is your "Earnings per Click" or EPC. That normalizes all offers which can have different payouts and different conversion rates.

You would be surprised by how many people just look at either the payout or the conversion rate.

Be careful with network EPCs because they take into account all types of traffic sources and can be extremely skewed. You can use them as a general indicator but make sure you are doing your own tracking.

Also, keep in constant contact with your affilaite manager because they can give you some good hints on what offers are converting well.

At the moment I use ROI Rocket, LinkShare, Aff Friend. Or wouldn't you call them CPA? I applied to MaxBounty and never received a response.
I'll try applying to Azoogle.
I also use PayDotCom and ClickBanks but they aren't CPA,there just affiliate programs with pay for user action. I'll have to read
the report at www.cpahotspot.

Not being extremely skilled in PPC and knowing that you need to do broad keyword
trial runs, I am thinking of running one CPA ad in a PTC website because I would have
1,000 looks for a whole 30 seconds a piece. Anyone have any thoughts on that idea?
I am using FluxAds, LinkShare, ROI Rocket among others. Anyone have any experience
with these?

One caveat to this post...the most profitable CPA offers are also the most competitive...and the least profitable offers have the least competition because nobody wants to spend money marketing them. That is just natural economics but it is the CPA marketing condundrum...and this is why the small guys have a difficult time making money....their pockets just aren't deep enough.

One tidbit, use Commission Junction to do research on what offers are in high demand or converting well. Even if you don't use their offers you can research a niche. They are one of the very few affiliate netoworks that provide transparent historical data on "Earnings per click" (EPC) for every offer as well as for the ads for those offers. EPC is the most important metric there is in the affiliate business.

Why just use PPC, that seems like a very risky thing to do. Why not write an article about the product with your own splash page to send it to.
That's what I am doing. The splash pages alone on traffic exchanges aren't doing so well. The reason I make my own splash page is you cannot to
an affiliate link on article directories. Ofcourse, you could do a redirect
as in So-and-So/Recommends/Snuggies.html

How you been Mike?!

I totally agree.....find the best paying proven to convert offers and carve out a piece of the pie for yourself.

What I do is find a weakness in the market like is there some traffic to be found with video, offline, classifieds etc.

Then I send them to a blog on the niche subject and try to collect that lead while displaying CPA offers at the same time.

This can also be done with all the social sites you join if you set it up right.

Absolutely, and to monitor where you are making gains and losing ground then make adjustments.

When you have a winner you can even invest in outsourcing to increase your numbers.

Unfortunately it's very hard hard to make even $1000 from this step by step with the free traffic version and there's a risk of losing $10000 with the paid option.
