What Criterias Do You Use to Determine Unprofitable Campaigns?

I know when you set up CPA campaigns, something like 90% of campaigns won't be profitable at the start.

What criterias do you guys use to decide which campaigns aren't worth salvaging and which you should keep and optimize to make profitable?
  • A certain click percentage?
  • A certain cost?
  • A gut feeling?
  • Something else?
And just to pre-empt generic replies:
  1. I know a lot depends on the campaign, platform, and other factors.
  2. I know everyone can find out by doing their own tests.
I'm basically asking how your approach your CPA campaigns when you're first setting stuff up.

I have a few check points

I start by investing $30-50 before making any decisions about the campaign, while its running I will kill any non profitable targets or ads, etc

After the initial $30-50 depending on if there are conversions, etc I will decide if it's worth trying to salvage or if I dump it
