Best paid way to promote a YouTube channel/video

Hi

I'm an indie musician and I'm about to release my first music video. I have a marketing budget of about $10,000 dollars and my aim is to get as many views of the video as I can. I'm looking for advice about the most cost effective way of marketing the video.

Firstly I'd like to know what are the best YouTube ad products for getting a low Cost Per View. I was thinking about using TrueView but I wondered if other Youtube ad products are more cost effective.

Secondly does adverting outside YouTube make sense? For example is it worth advertising on facebook and then embedding the youtube video in the Facebook page or paid post? Or maybe embedding the video in a promoted tweet on Twitter?

Like I said I want to get the most bang for my buck in terms of viewers for my budget. Also does anybody have an idea of how many views I could expect to get with that budget?

There's a lot of questions so I'd appreciate if somebody can answer any one of them

I think your best bet is to create something viral and create content i.e. more videos. While you have 10k as a budget is pretty decent it is also far too easy to just spend it all very quickly on traffic and eyeballs without having something concrete or tangible to show for it in the end.

What I would do is spend the money on labour instead of on paid traffic just now like PPC. Build up a youtube channel slowly, relying on word of mouth and the much slower SEO traffic first. This will allow you to iron out any issues in the beginning and as your channel slowly grows with subscribers and fans.

What I would do however is maybe pay a few OTHER youtubers to give your channel a plug or referral in their videos. That would be my #1 cost-effective method of spending some of your budget on actual advertising to get instant traffic, fans and a few subscribers to your channel to get the ball rolling.

    Hope that helps

      Hi,

Thanks for the reply, I hadn't thought of promoting the video with other youtubers. Is this likely to offer a better return (cost per view) than youtube advertising?

Use veeroll... & YT video ads!
Or make Traffic Contest to local SEO masters for some prizes (not all $10K).
    1st winner $2,000 - 2nd $1,000 - 3rd $500, and so on...!
If you want to target local views... then spend some prizes to pay local students to spread your flyers with your YT link on it for cheaper cost.
Or find some indie music forums and place an ad on them.
Basically you can do a lot with $10K.
    Good luck!
