Just starting out in CPA and I had some simple questions. I managed to get into a couple CPA networks and now I am about to run my first campaign with google adwords. So here are some questions.

1. When I look at the offers there is a link to preview landing page. Can I use this page? I have a solid background in HTML and CSS and I planned on making my own landing pages. Until I saw this. I'm a developer not a designer so their pages look much better than what I could design.

2. Are there certain offers that automatically make you skip over them? If so why? I am trying to do search offers right now. Attempting to not overwhelm myself. I see the EPC on some are low and I wasn't sure that mattered to much since I was seeking conversions.

3. Would it be better to make my own page and have multiple pages on it for different offer categories? Or make a landing page for each offer I use?

These are the first two of many questions I have. I have been reading as much as I can but there are some blanks I need to fill in along the way. Thanks for any help.

The preview button displays the landing page for the offer...there can be more than one landing page for you to choose from. The visitor has to go to their landing page in order to convert and you get paid. There should be a link for the landing page in the preview. That link is what you will use to send the user to the landing page..

The only reason to make an alternate landing page that they initially go to is to try and collect their email address and/or pre-sell them on the offer. No matter what you do, they have to go to the actually landing page to take advantage of the offer and for you to get credit, if they convert.

I imagine that the EPC is an average of all traffic. Your EPC could be higher or lower depending on the quality of your traffic. Some networks will send you a daily or weekly report on their best offers and the EPC by traffic source or best source.

Thank you, that clears up a lot. I am working on a site now but I plan to run 2 campaigns using adwords only to get my feet wet. I was thrown off due to everyone saying I need to make a landing page. I understand the usefulness of starting to gather my list of emails on my own site but I am trying to take this slowly. I really appreciate the response.

In regards to you landing page question some of it will depend on your traffic source. Facebook and Google have strict guidelines on what the landing page should look like. You will probably need to create your own landing page that either collects their email or sends them to the offer. Most people have better success using their own landing pages that presells the offer as well.

If you do CPA offers on google Adwords , there is a GOOD chance you may lose your Adwords account.. so dont use Adwords.

Ive been doing CPA marketing and list building for years there are better ways to market CPA offers you need to build a list and then monetize it...

    I hope this helps!

Thanks for the words of caution. I don't plan on direct linking anymore. I feel the offers would be better suited with an actually website. That being said would google still feel the need to take my account if I use CPA offers on a legit site with custom content?

Keep in mind that with some offers you won't be permitted to make custom landing pages where some you will. Make sure you know which it is before using one and ask your Affiliate Manager if you're still unsure.

Custom landing (or squeeze) pages can help you pre-sell the offer before the user arrives at the advertisers lander. They can definitely be useful if you're able to make one's that resonate with the user. Considering you mentioned you have a solid background in design and coding, this is probably a good option for you to play with. Remember to test a lot though to determine what works best. Different creative mixed with different campaigns will create different results obviously.

As far as EPC goes, it depends what you're looking at and if you're comparing offers within the same niche, etc.. I wrote a brief guide on understanding EPC for the MaxBounty blog in the summer. It might help you out in determining when to use EPC as a measure of potential success.

    Hope this helps some. Cheers!
