How to monetize blank referrer website?

Hello Warriors,

I am working with a simple website that people use to cloak/hide their referrer, similar to blankreferrer.com and nullrefer.com. This site gets about 100,000 unique visitors per day, but has $0 revenue.

When users cloak a link with this service, the following happens:

1) They can put this new link anywhere.

2) When the link gets clicked, they are redirected to the website, where a banner is displayed and a 3 second countdown timer.

3) When the timer drops to 0 seconds, they are redirected to the target link with no http referrer. Therefore, according to the target link's Analytics will show it was a "Direct" visitor as opposed to someone who came from xyz.com.

Does anyone have a great idea on how to monetize such a site? Hosting it is getting very expensive, especially when no revenues are coming in.

    Since it gets 100,000 unique visitors per day, you have plenty of traffic to analyze and segment for best results. But you'll need to segment the real traffic from the bots, first.

    Then, the visitors you think are targeted will be the ones you'll cater to. You should be able to check your Google Analytics or look up your site using platforms such as Alexa and SimilarWeb. to discover common characteristics between people who visit your site.

    You'll need to discover the demographic that visits most:

    *Are they people with college education or only high school, or both?
    *Do they come from website similar to yours or from websites in different industries?
    *Are more males visiting than women, or vice-versa?
    *What is the average estimated income of the people visiting?
    *What keywords did they use to find your site?

    Those are a few questions to ask, and answer. You can get a head start on the site mentioned above, in case you aren't already aware of them..or others.

    Then you'll have a better idea of what you can offer on your blank referrer page to monetize it.

    3 seconds is really very less time and for that period of time most ad network would reject your traffic, so you may want to work with alt east 30 second or 60 second timer and you will have plenty of opportunity if traffic is good

      Thank you for your suggestion. Increasing the duration in which people stay on the page will indeed help with ad revenues, but it will completely diminish the traffic because people will not want to use this service if they have to wait so long.

      I will keep exploring options, but I feel like it will have to be something different from banner ads to monetize this site.
