I monetize purchased data (email) using PPL offers. Been doing it this way for over 16 years.

I heavily promote PPL (pay per lead), which are just lead generation offers. The reason I choose them is because there is no credit card needed / purchased required to complete an offer. All a user has to do is fill out a form in order to generate a commission. So conversion rates are typically much higher, than offer that require a purchase.

I favor PPL offer that have a make, get or dave money angle / benefit to them. This is what has usually worked the best and tends to have the greatest mass appeal. So the potential exists to produce high volume. I will also promote free signups (dating for example), free trials (weight loss, evig, etc...) and a limited number of offers that are purchase offers. But the key with any offer that I run, is that I look for mass appeal to exist. This way they will likely appeal to the broadest possible audience and cross promote well.

The reason I acquire data to generate traffic is because I'm then building assets, that I can market it to over and over at low cost. Compared to what most marketers do, which is to pay for traffic, that often just ends up turning into a bunch of clicks that don't convert well. Or using some free traffic strategy that often ends up not being worth the time it took to implement.

I purchase fresh / targeted data that I know what the users are interested in and that a PPL offer exist that matches their interest.

I generate real-time co-reg, which I target specific PPL offers.

I also work with aged data, however, this is more complex and requires additional tools and resources to do profitably.

Last but not least, I get fresh / targeted rev-share data, which is data that has $0 upfront cost and you split the revenue generated from it, with the list owners.

Couple things you need to understand. Purchased data will never be as responsive as a highly targeted opt-n list that you build yourself. So it is necessary to compensate for this, by sending higher volume. This is not an issue, because buying data is much quicker and cheaper than you ever could build a list for.

Now the key to making it work, is to always get a sample of any data before purchasing and test it to make sure that that it is good quality and get an idea of how long it will take to break-even with. Then based on the results, you could move forward with the purchase or try and negotiate the price, if you need it to break-even faster. In the case of rev-share data, you are getting it upfront for free, so it's not an issue. Additionally you always want to be segmenting the data and removing the unresponsive users, that way you will build a smaller, but very responsive list. So you will send less and make more with each mailing.

So essentially, I monetize purchased data using PPL offer, because they offer the path of least resistance to generating conversions and converting the data into cash producing assets.

Obviously there is more that goes into all of it, but it really does work. Everyone that I know that is in the business and knows what they are doing, does 6-7 figures. While that's a huge range, much comes down to ones ability to scale and effectively manage the infrastructure that come with scaling.

I will say that this isn't for everyone, but something to think about.
