Big issue for Bloggers

Now I have seen this from several sources already that blog sites are going to be closely watched and fined by FTC from Dec 1, 2009.

What's your feedback?, Here is official doc:

    It's one thing for the FTC to come up with regulations regarding paid advertising on blogs, it's another thing for them to regulate and enforce. I can't imagine they'll have the resources to track and enforce the advertiser who's paying a blogger $50 +/- to do an advertorial.

    Not an issue for me at all and I have a hell of a lot of blogs. Never felt the need to make stuff up to promote them.

    If I write a review I write about things I own... I own a lot of stuff. So there is never a problem when I state an opinion based on what I believe.

    And my business has all the receipts to back up what I say.

    This is only going to be a problem for people who make things up and lie.

      When you say lots of blogs, do you mean Blogger or Wordpress?

      I have a very hard time setting up a WP blog, it's unbelievably NOT user-friendly like Blogger. I even have a WP blog that to this day I still don't know how I managed to start and maintain!

      Google's Blogger, on the other side, I have 4 of them really easy to write content on. Not complicated at all. Then I heard that Blogger is the poor man's way-to-go if one's needs to set up a blog. And Google is tighteting its grip on them.

      You seem to know your way around blogs, what do you think of my rant?

    Actually, the issue isn't really with the blog or flogs, but mostly in the disclaimers. You just have to explain a lot of things in your disclaimers, so much so, that you would scare off half of your prospects at first glance.

    Well, that's not an issue for me. I just used my blogs to share what I thought and my interests of life. Sometimes, I wrote about my work, that's all.

    And I do agree with InternetMarketingIQ, it just an issue for those that make things up and lie.

    As long as you do it honestly, that wouldn't be any problems at all.

    Not an issue for me either.

    I've put a disclaimer on my About page, and in every review I write of a product for which I'm an affiliate I state clearly that I'm an affiliate and that I've also bought and use the product. And I don't do reviews of products that I don't own and use.

    I've always done that, so no problem and no change.

      The FTC will not have an army of employees surfing the web looking for flogs and fake testimonials.

      They will, however, respond to consumer complaints (eventually). So if one of your flog visitors or (more likely) one of your competitors files a formal complaint with the FTC, you may find yourself swimming in a river of government sh*t.
