I am thinking about using cpv but is cpv good for just cpa offers or cps offers as well? I know you have to keep on testing to find the right combo ect..
#cpv #question

CPV is good for all kinds of things. I use it for CPA, affiliate, to traffic to my CPM ad pages, and to promote network marketing biz opps I'm in (works really well with this).

I haven't touched PPC in a long while because of the effectiveness of CPV/PPV traffic.

How much money do ppv companies want you to start with? I know traffic vance wants like 1000 or something like that to start how about the smaller companies like direct cpv?

The key to making money with CPV is to find the right URL targets. Keywords are a bit harder to make money with. Alenka, Angie or Gorana could help you over at DirectCPV. We've built a really good URL scraper that has all the live .com and .net domains (about 80 million). You may end up with over 50000 url targets that have the word "****" if you are targeting a weight loss CPA offer. We've also got a URL scraper that can find out who is linking to your competitor's domain. So say your site was cars.com and you wanted to find all of edmunds.com competitors, we could do that. We've also got a spider that can scrape up to 20 pages in google or yahoo if you give us a keyword.

We're overhauling the web site now and the back end and we will be making these tools public to help all of our advertisers out.

That sounds interesting, have you considered giving out a top 500 traffic target list like trafficvance/adon , some demographic information of your users or atleast what adware they come from?

          That would be immensely helpful.

Currently, we can give you the adware they come from and the demographics. You can block any adware that doesn't convert.

We should have quite a bit of social network traffic soon from our facebook application chameleontom.com to get more installs.

    DirectCPV:
If I set all three targeting methods (keyword, category, URL) during my campaign setting, which method will be used? or all three will be used for triggering

It goes in this order: URL, keyword, then category targeting.

Do I need a website? Or can I just use my affiliate link as a landing page for pop over/under pages?

I don't know about DirectCPV, but the other three (Adon, Media Traffic, Trafficvance) let you use your affiliate link as a landing page, so no, you don't need a website. Adon uses pop-unders and not -overs, so it loads as a full page. Media Traffic uses pop-overs or -unders (you choose, but I don't know why you would pick -unders), but it displays in a 750x550 window, so the visitor only sees a portion of the page at first. I don't know about TV since I'm not rich enough to have $1k sitting around.

      TrafficVance pops a full window.

      DCPV pops a full window.

Be aware that the full window that pops is whatever size the user left their window sized at last time they closed their browser. ex: If they had changed the size of the window to 800x600 then that size window will pop, if 350x200 then that size window will pop.

      Regards,

      John

Something I need to make sure I understand correctly - please advise:

Since Media Traffic displays the 750x550 window, do I need to build a smaller landing page to correspond to that size, or am I still able to use the full size offer LP? I'm confused on this one thing.

        Thanks much for your help.

Best solution - a page or graphic that perfectly fits the pop window.

Less desirable - a full page but you need to make sure what appears in the viewable area gets their attention without the need for scrolling. ie. Pretty woman, large headline, etc... that relates to your offer.

          Regards,

Are you sure that TV pops a full window because when I tested out a campaign in my account it was the same size as Media Traffic's pop?

Yes, I am sure. TV pops at 800x600 which they consider a full window.

Of course, there are many offers that have LP's that are greater resolution and they will require scrolling.

As always, plan and test based on what the CPV provider's technology can deliver.

          Regards,

Go me curious so I went to TV's site and took this directly from there FAQ's

"Your ad will be displayed in a brand new browser window (with a scroll bar) under the consumer's current browsing window.
What is the size of my ad (browser window)?
Your advertisements (destination page) is displayed at 80% of the Trafficvance user's current browser window"

I saw that too and I don't think you get a full browser with their pop as my test concluded the same as their FAQ says.

        LOL - size does matter...

...but it's all about the numbers.

Full landing pages work better on TV than MT or other networks tested. Conversely, pages built specifically for the others work better on them than they do on TV.

It really depends on what offer your promoting. As many have said before, test, test, and test yourself as that will be the only true answer so you can see first hand.
