From Positives to Negatives in TWO DAYS!

ahh man,
I just started getting into ppc campaigns and for some reason it seems a hell of a lot like gambling.

I've been using media buys to generate traffic to my landing page which then sends traffic to two different offers in the same vertical. Each offer is paying out about $40, and I usually get one sign up for each at the same time. So I usually get $80 off one customer.

I just finished the testing phase (which ended up costing me $200 in losses) and started making some money when just yesterday everything went to ****. I was getting at least a couple of conversions per day before, but today I have 0 conversions.

Here's my question:

How do you know when to stop a campaign? I mean, it was profitable for several days, but now it's eating away at my money. I'm down about $500 this week after yesterday and today's garbage plus the initial testing phase.

I know you can have bad days...that's why I'm still running it. But at what point do you realize you're not going to be profitable?

Thanks

After spending thousands of dollars and finding out the I can't figure out PPC, I stopped when I got tired of giving google all my money.

Getting started is the hardest thing in PPC, hopefully you have income from other sources feed this habit.

I had bought several tools that gave insight to what other people were doing and I copied them, then lost more money. I saw in the forums of these tools that nobody was making money either. So, I figured that I don't have the skill set for PPC, very simple.

So, from a small picture play with the money that you have to play with and big picture try until you get sore from Goolge kicking you butt!

    HTH IMHO

yea bro, it sucks when you're just losing money...but the rush when you see those conversions and a profit is intense.

I really do enjoy ppc more than article marketing and all the other stuff. So I'm not quite ready to throw in the towel. I don't use google, yahoo, or msn right now for ppc though.

I'm doing Media Buys and about to get into PPV. I'm just at a loss for an explanation as to why an offer that was converting at 25% a week ago is now converting at less than 10%.

These two days I've had 30 clicks to the actual offer landing page and 0 leads. Before I used to get 1/4 or 1/5 leads from the offer landing page.

I need someone to help me out with media buys...any experienced people that can give me some coaching will end up receiving 55% of my profits if they can help get me some profits. I've already set up several landing pages, ads, bids, and everything else.

      Thanks

You are right the ppc can be brutal, but it is not gambling. That point is absolutely crucial. You have to approach it uber-dligently and test it like a science. Set limits and monitor closely when you first start. Turn off obvious losers right away.

But when you optimize and find the winning combo, ppc will boost your numbers to crazy levels. So, its great if you have a little capital to get started and you have the diligence to test campaigns.

My advice to blingbam is to stick with it. Unless you got slapped (check your quality score), then you likely have a winning campaign. I hope you are trackign down to the keyword level, so make sure you are turning off losers, and building on your winners. If you were making decent money without a ton of optimizing, then you have huge potential when you start optimizing.

Make sure you are turning off your loser keywords though!

    best of luck

      Hey Kenster,
Thanks for the advice. I'm not doing keywords though, I'm buying text ad placements on websites. Let me know if I can drop you a pm giving you the exact details of my ads...

I was getting a great conversion rate from the offer landing page but now I'm not getting any conversions whatsoever. I have no idea what the problem could be.

I'm actually wondering if I should set this same campaign up on Google and Yahoo. But I'll probably wait until I somehow make a real profit from it.

I'd be happy to send you the exact details of my campaign as you seem to know what you're doing. If you help me make a profit off it, I'll paypal you 55% of my profits (after I pay down the $500 loss).

As I have mentioned, I will gladly help you out, but I wouldnt suggest sending your actual campaigns to anybody you dont know, especially if they are winners or potential winners.

Drop me some problems or challenges you are having and I will do what I can to give you some good advice.

...and instead of paying me a dime, donate anything you would have to a charity of your choice.
