For you Twitter marketers:

I hope this is the right section for this question.

For those that use Twitter, what is a safe number of people to follow per day? That is, Twitter won't slap you for following tons of people day after day? Currently I'm adding 200 per day, but of course, I'll add more if I can get by with it. I've heard some claim to add several hundreds or thousands per day without a problem, while others say that you shouldn't add more than 50 once you reach a certain point.

Any insights on this?

I have till 4 for twitter a/c and i always add around 100 people per day and till now has never problems .I think 200 is quite high especially you reach more than 1000 followers , so it will be good to follow 100-150 , just its looks like natural for twitter,

I generally add around 75 per day and haven't had any problems, but I guess you should go for it at 200 per day if you can get away with it and you have the time!

Thanks for the responses everyone. I have Twitter software that automatically adds however many people I want, so time consumption isn't a problem; getting banned by Twitter is. I'll lower it to 150 and see how that goes.

Anyone else is free to comment also.

hmm, I haven't been having any problems adding 300+ daily. I've been letting it run for the past few months and adding about 300-400 per day with a time delay of 1:02 - 2:01 and has worked for me

Are you adding 300 or 400 at a time? Or, say, 50 per hour over 6 hours?

I add a maximum of 100 but generally only do like 80-90 per account since I target my followers by keywords. Be sure to follow every few days and then use a day to unfollow.

If you already have a lot of twitter followers.. Twitter will now change it's "follow process" allowing you to follow 10% of the number of followers you have. so if you have around 3000, you can already follow 300 everyday.

I don't think you can get away with adding 200 per day for too long. It's tough to put in all this work into your twitter account and get it closed down and lose your followers. Why not follow 50-75 a day and know for sure that your account will remain open.

I am agree with natscash. 50-75 a day is enough if you do not want to be banned from twitter account.

I've actually stopped doing Twitter and have moved on to another form of promotion. But when I was on Twitter, I used LabTweets (you can search for the WSO on here) which I was very satisfied with -- they say that it does more for $47 than the $97 software that is most popular among Twitter marketers. The only reason I stopped using it is that it doesn't function correctly with the proxy on my college's network. Other than that, I was very pleased with it.

I follow 300 to 400 per day and haven't yet had any problems so far yet. When you're starting off with a new twitter account you need to be careful that you don't end up following too many people and only having a small amount of people following you back. That will only attract attention to twitter and get your account frozen.

I think up to about 200-300 daily is the safe limit. The other issue that you need to consider is the ratio of the people you are following to your followers, if it is 2:1 or higher, then you really have to limit how many people you're following to keep the ratio down, and you could also manage the ratio by unfollowing people who don't follow you back.
