I agree that CPA marketing could see some changes and some of that is probably a good thing...lol.

I don't do CPA offers, as of yet, but your post triggered two or three ideas I'm going to try for other things - so just wanted to say thanks.

Oh... and when youtube got big, I started putting videos on my pages instead of articles. I'd say, go check out this great video on dog tricks (there's plenty at youtube or ehow videos)... and you guessed it, would put up CPA banners.

Who does not like watching videos on dog tricks? Especially if you are a dog enthusiast.

Anyway, I thought you article marketing lovers would like that little tidbit.

I agree 100%, videos are huge right now. And video marketing for a fun topic like that is awesome.

Also, you may want to consider selling your own product, either develop yourself or PLR. Its easy once you have it...and you keep 100% commission.

      Eric,

If you see CPA in decline what are some other area that you increasing? It is kinda like people saying PPC is dead and now people are going toward PPV. What is the trend that you see developing?

I dont really see it as a decline actually right now. I see CPA industry as big. However, i do agree with others here and see it changing for the better. It will tighten up and change IMO.

Fraud is huge in CPA industry. Things have to change.

PPC is not dead, it's changing too.

Trends? facebook advertising... Bing... banner buys... link wheels... press releases... getting offline businesses to make $$... bridging offline with online... amazon affiliate program... cpa offers for ecommerce type sites/products... traffic brokering where marketers get paid for clicks, like Adsense was but higher pay outs and stricter targeted niches where you get paid to generate traffic for say, auto loans, but get paid $5 to $10 per click...

      Eric,

My opinion is this industry needed to be cleaned up.

It was like a runaway train just waiting for a huge collision.

I test offers to make sure they do what they say before I

promote them. I can tell you it has taken several months

and chargebacks to stop the offer from coming to my

house in numerous occasions. This is the type of offer

I am not interested in promoting even though short

term there is money to be made.

I too would hate to see this industry go away. Lately I

have gotten emails from a couple of networks that have

cleaned up their profile of offers to comply. This is very

encouraging to us marketers. Major corporations are

behind many offers. I think they would be glad to comply

as the leads they receive are very valuable to them.

Like anything, change will come and go. There will always

be opportunity for those of us who have the right attitude

and see the glass half full instead of half empty.

Do you see the glass half empty or half
full? The difference can mean success or
      failure.
The simple things seem to be the most
      effective and most overlooked.

CPA Marketing is not going anywhere.

These type of threads are getting ridiculous now.

Yes, CPA is not going anywhere as a whole. Yes its going to change in character as it has since inception, but the basic bones of CPA or lead generation through affiliates will not go away...its extremely lucrative and makes great business sense for all parties involved.

With that said, it is a living breathing animal...or beast may be a better word. The flexibility and resilience you showed by adapating to all the different changes over the last however many years is exactly what we as marketers need to do to succeeds. Like any business, things change and we've got to be on top of that change. That is why we all spend money on conferences and masterminds and buying products, to stay on top of this change!

I've been thinking about doing something similar.

So let me get this straight.

You send ALL of your lists to a dog article you wrote which has the desired call to actions in there....

Instead of sending them to a squeeze page to group them better?

So are you just mass sending all of your lists to that page regardless if they like dogs or not, and determining if they are interested or not based on if they go to the page?

    Thanks!

      hey Daniel

I'd send the traffic to a squeeze page that gives away something free (like a PDF on dog tricks).

Then, I'd create a page on one of my sites and paste an article or a video on "dog tricks".

I'd then send the "dog lists" to that page with the article or video

On that same page I'd put CPA banners.

If it's an article, I'd put a banner in the middle of the article breaking up the article into two pieces of content.

      Article
      banner
      rest of article
      banner

      like that above.

I did not send my "people who are into yoga" lists to "dog trick" articles. I keep it directed to the demographic and what they are interested in.

However, sometimes, I'd send dog lovers to a dog article. on that page, I might include a CPA banner on "how to make money" -- simply because it appeals to most people. It's broad. like who does not want whiter teeth, or to make money...

      Thanks

      eric

Speaking of trends, CJ now offers payouts based on calls to merchants. This is pretty cool. You get your own dedicated toll-free line and I believe I read that you get paid based on customers remaining on the line for a minimum amount of time. It's CPA, but the action is over the phone, not all online. And they don't have to buy anything, which is the coolest part. I think this might be huge in 2010.

I read this thread for one reason and one reason only - because Eric Louviere is the author. Eric knows what he's talking about and I'd trust his words more than almost every other memebr of this forum.
