If you know how to do the right way both search network and content network can make you lots of money . But , one thing that you need to be aware is content network is less targeted as compared to the search network .

Thanks for getting back to me.
How do you set up the search differently than content network
      Exact keyword listing?
      Smaller ad groups?

Do you get a larger audience?

    Different strategies

Why wouldn't you run a search network campaign?

Search is more targeted as long as your good with your keywords
    Content is interruptive marketing

      I never done it.
Would like to. What do you do differently with the adword settings?
      Do you buy exact keywords?
Are you looking at the ads or keywords when you track?

      Thanks for your help

Content networks are a tricky game to play and I highly recommend going with search traffic rather than content networks if you just are you now in the Internet marketing industry.

Is search more expensive to run?
Where can I read about putting a good search campaign together?

      Thanks

I disagree, I've always experienced less expensive clicks, and more targetted traffic with content, than I have with search.

The difference between the two is:

1.) Search campaigns are built around keyword groups. Ex. Golf, golf clubs, golf courses, etc...would all be individual adgroups, or even campaings

2.) content campaigns are built on themes, so for ex. You could build an entire campaign on golf, but also include relevant terms to golf, like executives, or business meetings, etc...

A major difference between search and content is the model in which the two are set up. In search, you pay per click. When you advertise on content, you usually pay per impression. I have more experience in search and tend to prefer it over content. However, a lot of people do better with content....like everything else in the industry, its all trial and error :-)

Just like TimScott said, the content network can get you a huge difference in cheaper clicks vs the search network, you just got to play it right.

I would also recommend starting off with content over search starting off. Search generally costs more than content. Both networks have tons of traffic and can be profitable, you just have to use keywords differently in each situation. People generally think of keywords in a search context (when starting out) vs the way the content networks uses them. Either way, I'd recommend content over search for starters.
