how should I charge advertisers

AD NETWORKS

Assuming I have a site that generates 10 000 unique visitors per month or 20 000 page views per month. The site is not yet monitised.

If I approached Adwords advertisers and asked them to be an exclusive advertiser to my site, how much should I charge them per month?

Is $10 per 1000 page views too much?

ps. This is an extremely competitive niche and the average CPC for the main keywords is about $8.

There are to many variables. Charge them as much as you can?

FYI, you could take the ad space, slice it into quarters, and then sell it to 4 different advertisers.

I have a site of similar size. I place adsense on the site. I also run my own adverts. If anyone wants to place an advert on that site, they have to beat my existing revenue per 1000 impressions..

Most of the time I'm too busy to bother selling those impressions, so I just leave it with adsense.

So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.

Look at similar sites through marketplaces like Adbrite and see what their CPM rates are. Whether or not a $10 CPM is high comes down to how good and how targeted the traffic is.

I've paid a $10 CPM on virtually unknown sites before if I thought the quality was there, but I could always bail out the next day if it wasn't. I'd never give an unknown site more than a 24 hour out clause and I'd never prepay more than two days impressions.

If you want to post the site URL, that would help, otherwise get it listed in CPM marketplaces to give yourself exposure to a lot of potential advertisers.
