Hi Everyone,
In the Commission Junction account if you go to 'Account>Web site Settings>Disclosure of Promotional Methods' there is a note in this field which says:
Note:
If you promote an Advertiser(s) by any means other than displaying a link to the Advertiser on your Web site, please mark yourself as a Special Program and update your description. Some reasons for disclosure include, but are not limited to, promotion via Software, E-mail, Third-party distribution, an Incentive site, or a Sub-affiliate network.

Can someone please explain this in layman terms to me? i am going to use PPC to drive traffic and i'm Having a bit of difficulty in deciding whether this applies to me yet.

Thanks,
#disclosure #methods #promotional

Why bother with CJ? Their offers don't convert well. Try a CPA network like Maxbounty or Neverblue.

This is so wrong. Cj is mainly for pay per sale campaigns and it has some solid brands on board so u can't ignore them. I have been a cj performers for 4 years now. The best part is the offers don't disappear overnight like most CPA networks who lose budget or capped or just asked to stop sending traffic.

Just ensure u are not sending PPV traffic to cj merchants or cloaking their links, they will terminate u next day without any warning. Ppc to offer is ok only if the merchant explicitly allows it.

Basically don't break rules they won't give u another chance

Cj is a tough nut to crack but slowly u will get there. Good luck

Actually, all ad networks have similar rules. CJ is a different beast than CPA networks like MaxBounty and others, but requiring disclosure is not uncommon. Many advertisers aren't looking for leads at all costs, they need to balance how their brand is portrayed by the affiliate. You might think contextual traffic for example is no big deal, but where did the traffic actually come from? Was is a pop on a site that's grossly unsuitable to the advertiser's brand? Did the traffic come from a competitor's website? Did it come from their own site? Who knows the particulars of what an individual advertiser wants, but if you give full disclosure before the leads are generated, you'll find out if your flavor of traffic is want the advertiser wants.

Remember, you might be following the rules but there are a dozen affiliates that aren't, and the advertiser cannot tell you apart without disclosure.

And frankly it's in your best interests to share. Your affiliate manager is your outside sales force. Tell them about your traffic. They can steer you away from the advertisers that are sticklers on the rules, recommend more open minded campaigns, and maybe even help you tweak your traffic mousetrap turning non-compliant traffic into something the advertiser actually wants.

As I said, all networks have disclosure rules. Those that never enforce them are those that shut down after a year or two. It's not about earning the most today, but earning more steadily over the long haul, with the knowledge in your pocket that you'll get paid because you had that conversation with your advertiser/affiliate manager/network.
