MySpace advertising offer any good?

I recently received an offer of $50 of free advertising in the MySpace network.

I'm not sure if you have to register a credit card to take them up on the offer but before I jump through all the hoops of setting up an account with them, has anyone recently taken this offer, and how has it worked out?

They boast that you can target people with very specific interests which makes sense.

But I wonder how effective is running ads in their network. I tried a few months of ads on Facebook around DEC/JAN and I was trying to bring people to various websites of mine, and to sell targetted DVDs.

Quite frankly, I found Facebook advertising to be complete waste of money and time. Not nearly as effective as Google, MSN, Yahoo adwords etc.

Very curious to hear what people have to say about their ads on MySpace.

As I reside in Canada MySpace will not do business with me.

I find extremely frustrating how many US companies are so foreign phobic of doing business with people and companies that do not reside in the US.

So unfortunately I will not be able to relate on my experience in doing advertising with My Space.

You could set up a corporation in the USA. It can be done online and via the mail.

So, you want to sell me another way to easily make "X" dollars in "X" days? ROFL too funny! IM success requires hard work and lots of time. Most newbies do not survive the steep learning curve. Anyone who says otherwise is probably selling you a fantasy.

Social Media Avertising = Complete Garbage!

The quality you get is absolutely horrendous, but it all depends what type of offer you are selling. I find PPC much more effective than advertising on social media websites. People arent on the lookout to buy/search for things, they want to socialize. This mindset is what makes the quality so low.
