Which ad server is serving?

Dumb question alert...

I'm having difficulty tracing how certain ads are served.

For example, on LA Times, there are google ads sure, but there are others that are not so obvious.

Live Http headers show r1.ace.advertising.com, then ad.doubleclick.net.

I've emailed advertising.com and get no answer.
I have visited doubleclick.com but don't see any obvious way to buy these ads that I see displayed on various online newpapers and mags.

I have used adsonar, but that is very straightforward on the websites themselves.

  • Any clues as to how to trace the origin of ads that are online and not obvious?
  • Anyone use doubleclick?
Thanks

Try using a program called Ghostery it is a great resource that tells you all the specific technologies that are coded on a publisher site. You should be able to tell which adserver is responsible for serving the ad by the ones listed or by looking at the source code.

I happen to work for one of the leading adservers in the advertiser space, Mediaplex. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you might have about our technology solution.

You can reach out to me directly 424.270.2518

    Thanks and good luck.
