Which Traffic Sources Give You The Best Conversion and ROI?

Hey guys,

I want to seek your input on these.

And which of the following traffic sources give you
the best conversion and ROI for CPA offers?

- PPC (e.g. Google, Yahoo, Bing etc)
- PPV (e.g. TrafficVance, MediaTraffic, Jema Media etc)
- Social Media (e.g. Facebook, MySpace etc)
- Media Buy (e.g. Pulse360, Blue Lithium etc)
- SEO (e.g. article, video)

I know different traffic converts differently for
different offers and niches.

But I just want to hear which works for you
in a general sense and give you the most
return on investment on the offers you do?

Personally I'm moving away from PPC
and SEO. Far too much work and time needed
for optimization. Not to mentioned that PPC
is also getting much more competitive.

I'm going to focus more on PPV and Media buys.

What about you? What works best for you?

Look forward to hear your thoughts.

Best,
Jag

Its impossible to rank because each and every campaign will be different. It will vary more on the offer than the traffic source.

Obviously your best ROI will come from free traffic like seo, article, video. In fact, if the traffic is truly free, your ROI will be inifinite because there would have been no monetary investment. BUT, who cares about ROI, what you shuold care about is profit!

As for conversion, again, all depends on the offer more than the traffic!

      Hi Kenster,

      Thanks for your input.

A few things I like to add on.

SEO is not really free. Nothing is really free if it involves
time and effort. And there are a lot of both when it comes
      to SEO.

It may only be weeks...sometimes even months
later before you before you see yourself
      getting any ranking.

Furthermore, any algorithm change by Google
can render your whole effort wasted.

I've been there before. So I know.

Now...SEO is an important part of the marketing
      arsenal. I don't deny that.

Just not an area for me to focus on.

Way too tedious - even with automation.

Because I think of opportunity cost. We have finite time
and resources. And we have to focus on the 20%
that can give us 80% of the results.

      With regards to profit...that's important.

However, there's no mutual exclusivity between profit
and ROI though. Both are linked.

      ROI = profit/original investment x 100

Profit is an important indicator I definitely look at.

ROI too - because I want to know how much
I get back in return for every $1 spent.

As I stated earlier, I do know that it all depends
      on the offer.,.niche...and other variables.

I just wanted to know - in a general sense -
which traffic gives you the best return.

On the last point of conversion - yes - offer
      matters.

      But traffic do as well.

Where your traffic source comes from plays a part.

For example, in the past, I found that social
media gave me better results as compared to PPC.

The audience you find there are generally of
a social mindset...in the mood to create relationship.

The audience mindset do plays a part.

Of course, there are so many specific variables
to go into. And this is just glossing over.

Because of that, I just wanted a simple
poll to ask of your view without going into
      deeper complexities.

That's where I'm coming from when I created this thread.

Nevertheless, I appreciate your input a lot, Kenster.

      Warmly,
      Jag

According to the last "affiliate summit", 90% of super affiliates use "paid traffic" sources as a way of promoting offers. Out of the remaining 10%, 3-4% use offline methods and only 6-7% use SEO!!!

SEO sucks, it takes too much time and by the time you get your site ranked - guess what google changes the game....

For CPA - paid traffic sources is the best way, people who tell you otherwise, maybe promoting there own products...

        My main traffic sources-
        1.PPV
        2.PPC
        3.Media buys

I agree -- this would vary by person.. People have their own individual strengths and weakness when it comes to online business.

I have the best conversion when I try to feed CPA offers to people that want it. No, let me rephrase that. to people that are HUNGRY for it.

But in terms of ROI, I would go against media buy. Higher ROI will happen if you spend less and be contented with free methods such as article marketing and work your way up as you get lots of money.

But I agree with the folks here that this may vary per person. I am merely relaying my personal experience on the matter.

      I like PPC..started from there.

      But nowadays...it's very restrictive.

You can't do a lot of offers and direct linking.

Plus, there are other variables to take
care of such as quality score...keywords
      optimization and ads.

That's why I'm shifting my focus more
      to PPV and media buys.

You can still direct link and use redirects. Google just wants transparency and quality websites (not flogs or 1 page squeezes with pop-ups/pop-unders etc..) at the destination URL.

Without a doubt the best sources of traffic for me are AdWords & Email. And IMO the most killer approach is to use AdWords to build your list in whatever niches you're in.

Then you can blast people CPA offers etc.

Not surprisingly - the majority of the Internet advertising budget is devoted to search engines & email (13 billion to search and 11 billion to email marketing).

Not knocking the other sources of traffic but for me these are my 2 favorite.

The best conversion is from PPC traffic.

But only once you have deleted all non-performing keywords.

After that you want to optimize your site for those keywords in SEO.

    Any questions let me know

Try free classifieds. One of the great benefits of using Free classifieds is that you are getting targeted traffic because when you post on classified sites people that view your ads are people that are searching for something that is similar to what you are offering.
    for eg tumano.com or craiglist.

JV traffic is the best....you have the endoresment. I find media buys to be 2nd...only if I get a deal with a website owner for a flat fee.

LeadImpact has been in the PPV/CPV business the longest, so if you are looking for a new traffic source to buy from give us a shot.

We are constantly improving our tools and on the distribution side always getting more and more users. We have a low initial deposit to let you try out the traffic first, because we know you'll be happy with it and are not cost prohibitive (like other PPV networks).

When it comes to CPA, I had a nice experience with social media and I'm currently running 2 profitable PPC campaigns. However, most of my income still comes from Clickbank products being promoted with free traffic (AM and SEO).

Anyway, I think it depends a lot on the person. Some guys feel comfortable working with free traffic, but others can't wait several weeks until start getting results and think that paid traffic sources are the way to go. Also, there are many other variables such as vertical, product/offer, budget, etc...

It's impossible to rank those traffic sources, so my only suggestion is: choose something and stick at it until you start getting results. I just started working on PPC when I was already earning a full time income with free traffic. If you move too fast from one traffic source to another you don't master a speific system and don't make money. Pretty simple rule.

Let me just say that PPV is sooo lucrative its crazy. Many people overlook the fact that a lot of big guys are cashing in on PPV. Everyone nowadays thinks PPC is the way to go. Let me just say that PPV is the old PPC. When PPC was a gold mine yet very few were working with it and making big money till everyone started to realize it and it started to be too late. You still can make a killing with PPC its just a little harder.

Many people just go in do a small PPV campaign and claim its a failure, but their wrong. Like any campaign if you do not put the right effort in its not going to bring you anything except failure or a horrible ROI.

PPV is a gold mine. Take advantage while you can

Well said! Moe gives great advice about, "...if you do not put the right effort in its not going to bring you anything except failure or a horrible ROI."

We see too often people coming in and just thinking the campaign will start making money without any effort on their end, but that's just not the case. Forums like this are a good place to get great advice.

    As far as ROI:

    1. PPC - Yes it's harder then ever to master, but once you do it's very profitable.
    2. PPV/CPV/Whichever term you want to call it.
    3. Media Buys, (p360 is not a media buy btw.)
