Just Starting Out. Any Words of Wisdom?

Hi Warriors.

I'm just starting out in the Paid Traffic arena. I've been making money online for a while flipping small websites and driving organic traffic to adsense sites etc.

I did have a bit of a scare a few years ago whilst stupidly diving into PPC without having a clue and I lost a chunk of cash.

I want to drive targted traffic to CPA offers and affiliate products and was thinking of using StumbleUpon Advertising and/or banner advertising.

My initial goal is a net profit of $35 per day.

I don't have a large startup capital. $100 at most.

Any words of advice would be greatfully received as in strategy/method.

Thanks guys.

The most important thing is to take action.

I strongly suggest that you do it this way:

    1. Decide what traffic source you want to use (Facebook, POF, etc...)
    2. Take action - start your campaign(s)
    3. Master that traffic source
    4. Rinse and repeat to add another source

When you do the above - track everything you can (views, clicks, sales, etc...) and learn the numbers. Test and tweak. The people who are successful stick with one thing and master it. When I say one thing, I mean one source like, for example, Facebook. If Facebook is the source you pick then do Facebook and only Facebook. If its google content network, then only do google content network. Pick one source and master it before you try another.

    Wishing you much success!

    Regards,

    John

      Hey russels,

Honestly, $100 is tough to get started with if you plan on using paid traffic sources. If I were you, I would create some content blogs around certain offers and start with organic traffic. Once those sites start making money then you will have all the money you'll need to get started with paid traffic. Here's my advice to you...

      1) If you've been flipping sites and making money with organic traffic, you're already WAY ahead of the game. I make about $500/month with some of my sites and I don't pay a dime for the traffic. It takes a lot longer to get going (as I'm sure you know), but the money is more consistent and you don't have to deal with paying for your traffic.

      2) Do some research and find an offer that is converting well in your CPA network.

      3) Create a content blog around that offer and add 100% original content to it every week (or day if you can!). If you have already been driving organic traffic to other sites, then you know exactly how to optimize a site. Just do what you were doing for your adsense sites and you'll start to see the traffic trickle in.

      4) Add an e-mail opt-in on the blog and start building a list.

      5) To get people to opt-in, create a report/process that people can follow to drive them to your offer. For example, I have a credit report blog that helps people repair their poor credit score. I have a 10 step report that walks them through repairing their bad credit for free. Step 1 of the process is "Go Get Your Free Credit Score and Sign Up For Your Free Trial to Get Your Credit Report".

      6) Once the person signs up for the free trial, I tell them to cancel the free trial before the 14 (or however long the free trial is) days is up so they aren't charged.

      7) People LOVE this. Not only did I give them a 100% FREE way of fixing their credit score, but they have no idea that I just made $22 off them because I didn't try to blatantly sell them anything!

      8) And once they are on your list, you can promote other offers that are related to credit scores and reports to them in the future (a.k.a - identity theft offers!)

Like I said, I make a pretty nice chunk of money from sites like these every month. They are consistent, I don't have to bid on keywords, and all I have to do is add some original content every now and then.

This is BY FAR the most effective way of promoting CPA offers that I've found. Yes, paid traffic is a lot less work, but it is also A LOT riskier. So give it a shot and let me know if you need some help getting the blog up and running! Hope that helps!

      Best of Luck,

Pretty good advice given so far. Action is the key though. But don't take any action until you have a plan. In your plan put in things like your budget, when to pause a campaign, what your targets are, how you're going to manage the campaign...etc.

Ok, as people have already said, taking action is the very first step to succeed with PPC. However, there are 2 more things that I consider essential.

    1. Start Simple

Don't over complicate your first campaigns, keep everything as simple as possible. Start promoting simple offers such as email and short form submits, avoid anything that requires credit card. Create simple landing pages and use more flexible traffic sources (it means avoid Google and Facebook). Talk to your affiliate manager, ask what's converting well with PPC and select a few offers to test. Track everything, know exactly what's going on, and you should find a winner soon.

    2. Don't lose your focus

If you want to start working with PPC, be prepared to fail. If you are new to this business chances are that your first campaigns won't be profitable. But don't give up. The more you try the more you learn. Keep focused on your plan and stick at it until you reach your initial goal (it's $35 a day, right?). If you know that you will give up after 2 or 3 failures then you shouldn't even start. There is a lot of money to be made with PPC, but it's only possible if you persistent.

    Read, setup, take action.

So many starters seem to read read read and never start. You need to motivate yourself. Once you have things going, you will automatically motivate yourself.. how? cause money talks
