How would you maximize an exact match URL that gets 1.5M searches/month

So I found a search phrase that gets about 50k searches per day, over 1.5M searches per month - let's say it is "something something insurance".

I was comparing direct matches with domain names available and was able to register "something-something-insurance.net" so naturally I'm wanting to build out an optimized site that will rank in the top slots for that search phrase, and funnel traffic to various CPA offers that are insurance related.

I got this domain on godaddy's 0.99cent deal the other day (a steal), and I've gotta believe with that many exact phrase searches in the insurance market, where leads go from $2 - $20 each, this could be a nice income if executed correctly.

Let me think out loud...

50k searches daily
?? 5000 visitors daily ??
?? 500 click through to offer ??
?? 5% conversion = 25 conversions per day ??
25 conversions x $10 avg = $250/day
250/day * 30 days = 7500/month

I have no idea if that is even close to accurate, but my thought is I should be able to make several G's a month if I can get it ranked in the top few slots.

The insurance market is obviously very competitive, but I only want to focus on hitting the top organic spots for that specific phrase, so hopefully with my matching .net domain I have a little head start. "Insurance" gets about 6M daily searches, so I don't think I'll be even remotely stepping on any super affiliate toes here.

I'm going to jump right in and start getting some content and design structured out with a nice wordpress set up, but would greatly appreciate any feedback (aka, free advice ) on how to maximize this site. To rank high, I'm assuming I need a decent amount of content (posts and pages) in addition to other on and off page seo factors.

Should I use a big call-to-action graphics at the top and sidebar widget areas to direct link them to offers, or send them from this site to another landing page? That seems like too many clicks. Should I segment the site based on type of insurance - auto, health, life, etc.? Or would that likely complicate the site and confuse the visitor from taking action and clicking to an offer?

This will be my first SEO oriented site for promoting cpa offers, have only done ppc thus far.

Thanks for any input!

for your first seo site i wuld not pick a niche this competitive, you want to target a search phrase with no more than 50 000 exact match competing pages and fouces your site around this keyword phrase so that the keyword is in then the meta tage,H1,etc

Yeah, I figured I'd get the "too competitive" reaction from some. It's all good - I know that will be a hard one to get...

I am also going to be working another exact match phrase .net domain (with no hyphens) that is around the 40-60k/month mark. It's still a pretty competitive market, but not as much as insurance.

I've got some premium seo related plugins I plan to test out on the WP installs. I'll probably outsource some link building campaigns and personally write/rewrite the content so it's not hacked-up english that's been spun and respun.

I have had sites that rank page 1, but they weren't for cpa.

      Thanks for your input.

I would recommend you to analyze the top 10 websites for that keyword. You should analyze on-page and off-page factors.

Analyze on-page factors such as if the keyword is in title, meta description, header tags and URL also make sure to check their keyword density and obviously don't forget about the off-page factors such as Pagerank, Amount of Backlinks, if they are linking to the website with the keyword in the anchor text and also where are does links coming from is it from a website in the same niche or what?

Always keep in mind off-page factors have more weight when it comes to ranking in most of the search engines so don't forget about that step also

If you think you can actually beat the top websites for that keyword, sure go for it!

Keep in mind that there are many factors when it comes to rank in the search engines,
In fact Google uses 200 different signals when it comes to ranking and they only tell us the most important one which I listed above, also they added load speed to those signals recently :p

Angel - thanks for the input. I used Traffic Travis's SEO Analysis and the "Difficulty Rating" was "Relatively Easy" which kinda surprised me.

I attached a screenshot with the analysis of the top 20 ranking sites (in Google).

      We'll see what happens!

      Thanks,
      David

I think it would be easy to beat those websites if you work hard, looks like there on-page factors are not optimized but keep it mind the off-page factors actually have more weight when it comes to ranking!

I would recommend you buying some links from high PR websites in your niche and also tell them to link back to your website with the keyword in the anchor text considering most of the top pages are even PR 5, keep in mind PR has a LOT to do with rankings.

Also don't forget to add USEFUL and ORIGINAL content to your website, you could write articles targetting long tail keywords, those pages can bring in some extra traffic and leads if those articles rank well for their keywords!

And remember it takes time to get some good rankings! just keep working hard and tracking your work if it's working keep doing it!
