Brand new and in need of advice.

Hey all,

I am new to CPA and could use your help. (I can just hear the record scratch as everyone looks up from the pool tables.)

I've been exploring this part of the forum for a few days. I'm... overwhelmed. Lots to learn and figure out.

That being said, you can't start if you don't start. So based on a few recommendations from threads here I've applied to peerfly.com and neverblue.com.

I'm a day or two out and awaiting confirmation or rejection (ah... just like back in high school only this time I hope it works out better.) In the meantime, what do you think?

I am new to CPA but not new to marketing. I write copy (my own - and I've been told it doesn't "extremely" suck...kidding. Some big folks say it's not bad) and have created some products in different niches and so on.

Am I (first) going to have a shot at "getting in" and (second) is there room for me?

It seems super saturated, but it feels like something I'd like to do and could do well. That being said I don't plan on PPC in the beginning. I plan on a variety of other means (as I'm slowly reading and learning about.)

So... room for more?

Can a guy like me still get in, even without experience?

Can I still do well?

Are there one or two resources you'd suggest that most people say, "oh yea, I'd definitely check that site out. It's one of the best resources out there?"

I appreciate your thoughts. One thing's for sure - this forum is certainly one of those places, so I'll stay tuned.

Thanks for your help.

EDIT: Also, I wanted to learn more about the kinds of things most of you might take for granted. Things like what you can and can't do, the "standards", the standards that still work, obvious things to you that I might not think about...

Is there a CPA for dummies?

There's plenty of room. I think you first need to figure our what it is you think you'd be good at promoting, then see if there is a market for it, then looking for an offer that fits that.

I think there's a wealth of knowledge on this forum and you should save the $60 on some course and use it to do offer testing & ppc. (That's because I like to see results quick)

I know you're looking for that CPA for dummies link, but I prefer the warrior forums for entrepreneurs.

    Best!!

    Hi Nathan -

Even if you didnt say you were a copywriter, I would have suspected it!!!

Anywho, is there room for you? Yes, absolutely. The internet is big, its massive.

There are 2 billion people online
There are 3 billion google searches per day
There are 50 million tweets per day
There are who knows hwo many web sites

The traffic online is massive. As marketers, our job is find our own way to capture that traffic, to have access to it. We can pay for traffic or get it free. But the short answer is yes, there is still plenty of traffic to be had out there which means there is still plenty of room for you. Further, the internet penetration is only something like 20%, so there is still tremendous growth potential in the industry as a whole.

There are hundreds of CPA networks so if peerfly doesnt work out, I can guarantee you can get in elsewhere!

As for resources. The WF is one of the best for free information. Lots of helpful warriors here. Blogs like Jonathan Volk are nice and then there are paid courses, communities, products that can help as well.

Either way, your focus should be on the traffic. Find a traffic source you want to eat, sleep, and breathe and master it. CPA is just a way to monetize traffic, but you need the traffic first.

Wishing you much luck buddy. I have no doubt with your copywriting ability you can use that in your marketing to do well.

    Best, Ken

    Thanks guys.

You've completely reminded me of one of the most important elements (and things I teach elsewhere), work backwards.

Kenster - Just an awesome reminder, thank you. You put it very well and very concise. That's exactly what I needed (and wanted) to hear.

Now... (looking around) if I could just find where I put my ambition... it's around here somewhere...

Now onto reading more threads and my next diet dew.

Yes, too many people focus on the monetization and forget they need traffic.

I would suggest just browsing around for a few days and learning all the different paths you can take. Learn a little about each one and then analyze each one to the best of your ability. Does each one seem like something you would be good at, something you would enjoy, something with potential, etc. If there is a clear winner, then delve into it and begin to master it. If there is no front runner, either test the ones that are leading and learn more.

At the end of the day, a lot of people jump around from method to method, traffic to traffic when they are starting and gain no traction. Focus and becoming good at any one thing is how success stories are born!

Like Kenster said, i think determination plays a tremendous part in this. You should research on the different avenues of driving traffic to offers, then stick with that area and stay persistent. There's plenty of room in the CPA field. It just takes a lot of dedication that separates the 'weekend warriors' from the guys who make $X,XXX - $XX,XXX a day. Best of luck to you!

Yes, you can do very well with CPA even if you don't have experience. You just need to do what most people, unfortunately, end up not doing: make a choice.

You said that you are overwhelmed. I believe. There are virtually unlimited opportunities in this business and I often get surprised with the ideas that some guys use to make money. People are using 1 thousands of startegies to profit from CPA, and it's what makes this model wonderful.

However, understand right from teh beginning that you can do everything. Make a choice. Choose a vertical and a traffic source and stick on them. You will fail a couple times and will want to try something different. Keep yourself under control, be strong and don't lose your focus.

You said that you don't want to use PPC. Well, PPC is my life now, but I would never say that everybody who wants to make money online need to use it. I know guys that do much better than me promoting CPA offers and don't buy a single visitor from PPC. What you need to choose is: paid traffic or free traffic?

Do you have money to invest? If so, don't be afraid, do it! Entrepreneurs take risks, invest money, fail several times and keep going. If you don't have courage to bet on yourself and on your capacity to build a successful business, go look for a good job and start working for somebody who does. However, you must be realistic. If you don't have money, don't get in debt, that would be by far the worst choice you have ever made. There's plenty of free traffic out there, so start learning about free traffic sources and choose one of them to build your business on.

Focus, persistence and wiliness to learn. If you have these things your learning curve won't beat you and you'll succeed.

I'm in Peerfly now. It's amazing to see the offers and start hearing the wheels turn in my head!

I can see the many possibilities that are there. And the advice given here and elsewhere on this thread is terrific. Do these CPA conversations ever spill out onto the main forum? I assume there are a lot of people there too that obviously do this as well.

As I'm learning the ropes, I'm getting yet more and more questions that will take some time to answer by exploring. The "incentive" rules and others obviously make sense. But here I am thinking about using any DM an copy ability I have to aid my efforts.

Can I help craft shorter messages on fliers for example to help promote? It would appear I can. In the end that's what PPC is I suppose.

But I like my shirts and would hate to lose them after I've kept them around for so long. Wife would kill me too. Although I give her enough opportunities and I do seem to have nine lives.

Thanks for the feedback and support.

There are some CPA conversation that spills into the main forum (as CPA is one of the best traffic monetization strategies there it!!) but most of the juicy convos are right here within this sub forum.

You will have a lot of new questions pop up everyday...welcome to internet marketing haha! I've been doign this for a while and stil have lot's of questions. More than anything, just remember to never stray too far from the basics of business, marketing, direct marketing, etc. You need to put little creative ideas on basic concepts...that's it. You don't need to craft a super strategy to take over the world. Too many people overcomplicate things when they first start and never gain traction.

So my advice would be to just start with the basics, set your goal at $50 or even less a day and move up from there.

Seems like you have a good enough head on your shoulders to do just fine...just make sure you put in the work and approach this as a business. Gotta hustle your way to making money, its not going to magically jump into your account. Hope to see you in the winners circle!

    Hey Nathan

Congrats on getting into your first network - enjoy the ride!

This sub forum is pretty much the place to get info on anything CPA. As far as learning the ropes, the best free info around here comes from Kenster and William.

If you're looking for WSO's, we can't promote anything directly here but again, Kenster and William have some great one's and if you're moving into paid traffic, look up Chad H

    Good luck mate

    Cheers
