Downsides To CPA Marketing

Hi,

I am finally going to choose CPA marketing as my first aim to make money online as its easy to get into and start up costs are cheap and no downline required with less convincing people to join.

What are the downsides to it in your opinion?

Downsides would be payout thresholds at some networks. And also some offers are only seasonal, or for a limited time (or until they get x amount of actions) which means for some offers you have to constantly monitor them to make sure they are still active, etc.

The reasons why I usually don't promote CPA offer is a lot of them come off to be spam, plus offers come and go so quickly so I wouldn't bother trying to get any organic traffic with websites or other web 2.0 properties.

But if I was to promote CPA offers I'd definitely use viral video marketing to my advantage. I know there is a lot of money to be made in CPA, but I just stick to what I know and that's selling digital products...

Some of the offers are rubbish and spammy but there are also a lot of good offers that people are actually interested in doing - which is where you make money

There's going to be downsides to everything, the only thing is how to play to the upsides, because CPA has a lot of upside and you can make a lot of money with the right campaign

One of the biggest downsides in my opinoin is that much of CPA is trendy. Sure there are stable niches and offers, but many of the big money makers don't last forever and the methods to promote them don't last forever. Competition is a bit tough in the paid traffic space so a campaign that rocks it one day can literally fizzle to nothing just a week later.

Lots of opportunity in CPA and lots of ways to approach it, but that is just one of the downsides.

The upsides outweigh the down though

I agree. With CPA you will have great days and terrible days, campaigns are constantly dying and rising. However, this is not a big problem if you can spot good opportunities and take advantage of them.

Is CPanother phrase for Affiliate Marketing, if so the biggest challenge/downside, is creating an ongoing asset, just told another thread the important thing for long term success is creating a relationship link with customers so that you have more at the end of each sale than just the cash.

This helps you scale the business by giving you understanding of what works, even if the latest offer disappears

I think the downside in CPA is that they will let you join the campaign even you didn't comply to their TOS and then after months of serving them they will ban you and pay nothing. so if you feel that you don't have a lawful content, don't go for Cpa. especially with CPAlead.

I guess that's a downside but thats the issue with pretty much anything in business. If you aren't playing by the rules, you can get burned, so I dont think its exclusive to the CPA industry by any means.

For me: downside is that I get lost. I think I am right -brained and it is hard for me to keep on top of all the offers I am testing at a time. Then decide which ones to replace and keep.

And sometimes when a promotion is set up the campaign is canceled or cap reached.

And yes, I am having problems with setting up with geo redirects that is losing money if not done properly.

Simple. Read where the target markets are for the offer. It always say it somewhere where you get the offer from. If it's for US and Canada, target US and Canada. If it says only AU, then target only AU. Most likely, Canadian and US traffic will be geo-redirected when the offer is targeted to Spain, for example.

One downside is that it's addictive - I can't stop checking my stats and the status of my campaigns. It can require some micro-managing - it's not often that you can just buy paid advertising and check on them a week later. It requires a lot of monitoring.

              That's a great point that I don't think about a lot.

Depending on what type of campaigns you are running, there can be a certain degree of stress that lingers over you at all times. Sure you set limits and try and minimize the downside of campaigns, but there is always the possibility you are losing money for certain types of campaigns.

Maybe its a technical problem or maybe a campaign just goes south. So, much like day trading the stock market, you can always be checking your stats one more time to make sure things are okay. When I wake up in the middle of the night, guess what I find myself doing when I have something big going...checking in to make sure all is good. If things are good, I get excited and can't fall back asleep. If things are bad, I obviously have a hard time falling back asleep.

So it can take a toll on you. Sure the positives outweight the negatives by far, but CPA isnt all rainbows and butterflies sometimes. Like any business things can go well or things can turn south.

Again, the above is most relevant if you are dealing with paid and real time traffic.
